everton mate of mine reckons is structured to be £8m up front, £5m per season over next four years.
it's a strange one - everton are bouncing over it - which i am surprised at, he's no doubt a good player with huge potential and their biggest ever signing.....but it' doesn't improve the team from last season - and if he has one/two good seasons a big club will come in for him and he'll be gone
but the everton fans are convinced that this is their best summer ever signing barry and lukaku and a new deal for barclayi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Its pretty good news for Everton I think.
They are a pretty strong side now, and with another year under the belts of Barclay and Stones they will only get better.
I think they need to look at their midfield, probably someone to play wider. But they have a good base now.*Except Michael, who died.

I think it is a good Summer for them so far, but as we've said they've spent £30m+ so far which is huge for them, to have pretty much the same squad as last season. It's all a bit bizarre.Originally posted by PTP View Posteverton mate of mine reckons is structured to be £8m up front, £5m per season over next four years.

i am confused by it
yeah it's good - they've managed to get barry though surely he's only got one year left playing all the time, lukaku huge signing for them and they'll keep barclay for at least one more year.
but they have not improved from last year and they've spent all their moneyi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

That Besic fella might surprise a few as well, but yeah I expect one or two players to come in. But they can also build on this signing over the next years. Lukaku, Barkley and Stones are what 20 and 21 and McCarty is not much older, Martinez is building a strong core.Originally posted by Alex View PostThey hardly spent last year though. So I think they have a little more than we all suspect. Still expect them to get a couple more in.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I get the fee being so high. The latest TV deal dwarfs CL money. All clubs have this much money to burn.
What I'm more miffed with is that Chelsea are massively cashing in on the likes Lukaku and Luiz. FFP is definitely not gonna be a problem for them. Who'd have thought that a couple of seasons ago?
And it makes me chuckle that Everton have spent £28m just to stand still.
Oh I don't know.

The first XI is pretty strong and can take points off anyone, but as you say there cover isn't up too scratch, especially upfront, I think they can manage with the midfield but like last season, lose Lukaku and it's difficult. If you have Lukaku upfront you can get away with having a Gibson in midfield but it's more difficult when Kone is upfront.Originally posted by PTP View Postare they in any sort of european football?

Can’t believe people are questioning if it’s value for money. We paid £20m for Markovic which is a gamble. He could well prove worth it and tear the league up or he could end up another Aqualini. Lukaku cost £4m more, at worst he’s going to score more goals than most PL strikers this year, and as many as any Everton’s most prolific strikers in the PL era and at best he could go on to be better than Drogba, who didn’t look anywhere near as good in his few few PL years.
Also, £24m for Lukaku or £14m for Borini (who many on here still class as young with potential
)? The market is mad at the minute, but injuries permitting, I can’t see Everton losing out on this deal
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

personally for me it's not a question about the fee or the player - just from an outsider with limited knowledge of everton could they have used that money better - signing two or three players??
that said they do have a very good starting XI - if they can keep that side fit they'll do welli own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
