just watched this clip that Mostar posted in another thread, i am stunned with how ****e charlie adam is...Originally posted by Mostar View Post
counted about 8 completed good passes, many passes backwards [to boost his completion stats, no doubt] and every cross field pass missed the man by miles. kept falling over every time he was challenged, gave the ball away.
would anybody buy him on the evidence of this vid.

I have always found this a slightly odd criticism. Sometimes keeping possession safely is the right idea.Originally posted by baitman View Postjust watched this clip that Mostar posted in another thread, i am stunned with how ****e charlie adam is...

i know what you mean, but taken that there is very little positive product from him, and along side his back passes he regularly squanders possession with **** passes, gets caught in possession, or keeps falling over when there is no foul, he cannot chuck in several back passes as he has no plus side to counter his negative side. he aint alonso... this we know. his overall game is gash.Originally posted by dww View PostI have always found this a slightly odd criticism. No Plus side bateman? He's got a fair few deflected goals from a willingness to shoot we rarely saw from Alonso this year - He's created a few goals as well - Particularly remember his sublime pass that shredded the Chelsea defence for Johnson's winner in the League Game at Stamford Bridge but if he has one weakness? It's his utterly maddening failure to tackle or even try to track back? That is unforgiveable & Needs sorting out quickly............

No chance this is a fair assessment. You are definitely only watching for the negatives in that clip, and not giving a balanced view..Originally posted by baitman View Posti know what you mean, but taken that there is very little positive product from him, and along side his back passes he regularly squanders possession with **** passes, gets caught in possession, or keeps falling over when there is no foul, he cannot chuck in several back passes as he has no plus side to counter his negative side. he aint alonso... this we know. his overall game is gash.
I am not saying its a midfield masterclass or anything, but he is involved heavily in 2 attacks that could, perhaps should have resulted in goals. His distribution in the final third is pretty good I reckon, its not his fault the forwards aren't sticking the chances created in the back of the net. The times he passes backwards in that clip are due to the circumstances he receives the ball in. WTF is he supposed to do? We retain possession in these moments which is key. In fact some players have made a career out of doing basically only that.
I'm not saying he's Zidane, but he's no way the player you are depicting either.Modifying post.

I think that is a little harsh, I'm not a fan of Adam but he has more assists than anyone else in the team this season with 9 and he's chipped in with a couple of goals - which means he's scored or created over a third of all our Premiership goals this season, so he does have a positive side.Originally posted by baitman View Posti know what you mean, but taken that there is very little positive product from him, and along side his back passes he regularly squanders possession with **** passes, gets caught in possession, or keeps falling over when there is no foul, he cannot chuck in several back passes as he has no plus side to counter his negative side. he aint alonso... this we know. his overall game is gash.
The problem with his game for me is the silly mistakes and poor defensive side of his game, too often he tracks back to close to the edge of his own area but then doesn't do anything (block, close down, pressure the ball etc) he just seems to wait for us to regain possession. He also makes silly challenges and gets booked early on in games, and gives the ball away too often through sloppiness or lack of concentration. He has played a few very good games for us earlier in the season but he hasn't been able to reproduce that form on a consistent basis. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Isnt he one of our highest assisters??Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

How many goals has he got through deflections? I'd say his penchant for wildly optimistic shooting, that usually results in wildly off-target shots when there are better options available, is definitely one of his numerous minus points.Originally posted by Redshadow View PostNo Plus side bateman?
