I have seen very little evidence of nice shoting. How many goals has he scored which have not been deflected in?

A squad player that has played more than his fair share this season.
Don't think i said he needs development, just time to settle into his role and be confident with it.

I've seen some lovely strikes from him.

He's obviously playing more games now, in future, with other addidtions, and Lucas being fit he'll get a lot less, and will be here for a max of 3 to 4 seasons imo as a squad player.

As we build, we evolve the lesser talented players out, hopefully, but where we are now is where we are now, it's a journey......and on the way we stop off at Wembley.

Said this before and i believe it to be completely true, the only way to see the best of Charlie Adam who clearly has ability, is to have him in a role in that he has absolutely no defensive responsibility whatsoever!

Every weakness he has as a footballer i.e. lack of pace, clumsy, god awful tackler & terrible positional sense are horribly exposed when playing in a defensive role. I don't think it was a coincidence that he started to look a real player sitting beside Lucas who completely cleaned everything up behind him and Adam didn't have to worry about tracking back like he does with Gerrard beside him. IMO, same goes for Stevie aswell, as he clearly doesn't trust Adam defensively enough for him to push forward, hence we see Stevie in a more withdrawn role.

Adam could be a vital squad player for us, IMO when we have all the right personnel back, we can afford to use Adam in a position that will not only play to his strengths, it will provide a us with a player that can be pretty productive when playing nearer to the opposition goal.

As regards last night, i thought Adam was god awful the first 20-25 but improved dramatically from then on in, and IMO ended up having a very good game.

And that is why he cost £7M and not £20M. Adams was only meant to be a squad player for all the flaws identified above.

he turned his back instead of tackling on at least 3 occasions last night, one for the de jong goal; that drives me mad

you cannot rely on him to do any defensive duties. he might intercept a pass, put a good pass in himself, and will always try and bang one from outside the box, often scaring the fella in row z
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I see him the same way.

Next year when Lucas is back and when we buy another CM his playing time will be much limited.

Good player to have in the squad though.

10 assists this season and i think as previously discussed you see a different and far more productive player when there is an out and out DM covering for his defensive frailties. Outstanding production levels from Adam, well done!

As with all our players just now (maybe except Bellamy) he makes mistakes but seems to have them highlighted more than other players, not a popular player, but he makes goals.

Deserves more support than he has been getting and was by no means the only culprit when we were playing badly.

Adam comes out with some really really stupid tackles, some stupid mistakes and some selfish 'I don't look up' final third play. However, he also comes out with some stupidly good first-time attacking passes on the half-volley. If we had Lucas on the field, those aforementioned stupid mistakes wouldn't be highlighted as often, yet we don't have Lucas. And he should be aware of that. However, his contribution today was good and vital for the 1st (brilliant) goal by Carroll. Long may it continue. I just really hope he stops being such a knobhead when it comes to tackling and not passing in the final third. We'll see...

He's so frustrating. Makes things happen, creates loads of goals but without the ball he's a car crash. Another intensely annoying yellow card tonight.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Aye - that's fair too. I just think he cops criticism others avoid. I'll need to see the yellow again, seemed as though he took one for the team - but not sure if he needed to.

Adam must love it when Downing plays. He dwarfs everyone in the criticism stakes.

At halftime I was convinced he was going to get a second yellow in the second half.
