I think he had a good game, responded well after Saturday. He'll never win some supporters over.

He really does have an exceptional eye for a pass, reminiscent of Gerrard in that respect. He is awful tracking back though, really bad. As has been said, if he can be used in front of a Lucas type player then we'll see the best of him. I still think it should generally be Adam or Gerrard rather than both.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Such a frustrating player. He has tonnes of ability. He played one ball last night, on the volley, just absolutely leathered it, and it was just intercepted by the City player, but it was an exquisite pass, it really was. I doubt there are many players in the world capable of a pass like that. And then he'll go and misplace a simple 10 yard ball. And defensively he's very poor. His challenge on Dzeko last night was awful and should have been a penalty to them. He was chasing Silva's shadow all night. And he made a dreadful challenge on him as well.
Defensively he often seems to get caught flat footed. Noticed that a lot with him. He just stops. ****ing weird. Real pros and cons to his game. Similar to Garcia in that respect I think.
Overall, I think he's a good player to have in the squad - I just wish he could cut out the mistakes he's making. Because if he did, he could be class.K ris90210

I don't think he can actually learn those things though, it would be better for him to just try and close the space and hold back, I just wince when he goes for the tackle.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostSuch a frustrating player. I think he has the technical ability to do great stuff, the problem is consistency, he may be able to do those things well but he doesn't do them on a consistent basis and those great moments are far too infrequent.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostSuch a frustrating player. For me he's a good squad player but shouldn't be a regular starter. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I am pleased that the cry for penalty on Dzeko hasn't got that much attention. It was a clear foul, even though it was only "coming late" from Adams side. If they had had a goal at that time, we would have been beaten 6.1 instead of getting a draw. Defensively Adam is so clumbsy - whereas he most of the time sees a lot of good passes offensively. I would prefer him to be part of 4 CMs with Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey. Only two of them at the pitch at the same time, then it would be OK.- - - - -

Defo and I dont think he will be when everyone is fit, him getting subbed for Gerrard on a few occasions was telling but then Spearing went and got injured aswell as Lucas already being out so its pretty much needs must right now. I expect Jay, Gerrard and Henderson when they are fit.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostFor me he's a good squad player but shouldn't be a regular starter.

Definitely, would have changed the complexion of the game. I really don't like Adam. He can be great but can cost us greatly. He's one of our few players that can win us a game, but he can also single handedly lose one too. Using a rugby comparison he's like Carlos Spencer or/and Quade Cooper, but nowhere near as talented as either. He's a really good risk vs reward player for a smaller team because they can afford the risk because their other players are also liable to **** ups. But for us, especially considering we want to be competing in the CL, the finest of margins can decide the outcome of our match and we can't have his stupid fouls in awful positions, his lack of marking ability or him being in the wrong place ala de Jong's goal.
I commented in the match thread, there was a 3 minute period which summed him up perfectly. He misplaced a 10 meter pass which sparked a City counter attack, where they got players down the pitch. Once we recovered possession he set Kuyt loose with a lovely pass causing us to get a chance. It's just far too inconsistent, and I can't see him improving. He's not like Carrick, who isn't the best at tackling, but avoids tackling by closing space and making interceptions.
I know it was never going to happen, but I'd have loved to see Aquilani getting a run of games in that position because I'm positive he'd have done a better job.
Adam obviously would improve greatly next to a DM, but I still have my concerns about him and the fact that the way we sometimes play, particularly at the start of the season made him basically our most important player and the outcome hinged on his performances. He went through a purple patch, but also a bit of a rough one. I'm far from convinced, the sooner he becomes a back up player/moves on the better imo.

I think Charlie Adam is a wonderful addition to our squad with an emphasis on Squad, he is a superb player, but he is not a player who can play any system or with any starting 11.
I thought he was sketchy at times last night, and he will be a player I think will benefit hugely from a more robust squad which we no doubt will have come next season. His early ball in from the left deep Channel last night was utterly sublime, whipped in, at pace with a huge ammount of bend on it in front of the box ... we need to see him doing more of that, with Downing permanently being played on the left or nowhere at allAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt.
