You weren't so bad mate, but a lot of people did expect Adam to be a regular first teamer and even suggested that in a 442 we should play an Adam and Gerrard centre mid.

EDIT: IMO i thought and still think he can be a decent squad player for us, if used away from the defensive sides of things. Also i really don't think we saw the best of his set pieces last season, in fact that was the most disappointing thing for me. I knew his tackling was ****e and that he wasn't the most athletic guy but thought his set pieces would be a banker.

As i keep on harping on about, his three worst assets are lack of pace, no poistional sense & can't tackle to save his life. Putting a guy with these deficiencies in a defensive midfield role.... well it was just asking for trouble. I know we had injuries in CM, but Adam & Spearing in midfield & protecting the backline, i mean it speaks for itself really & it blew up in our faces.

IMO played up closer to goal would utilise his best assets which are his production levels,nice left foot & good passing range. Or even with a good out and out DM behind him.

Many don't like him and that is fair enough i can see why they wouldn't, but for me it really not as cut and dry as some are saying. People seem perfectly happy to make excuses for certain players when their played out of position/under a certain manager/ or not used properly and to their strengths but Adam doesn't seem to be afforded that same courtesy.

Anyways if he leaves i won't lose sleep over it, but i feel he could have been & could be used better than he has been under previous management.

You missed out that his pass % is below average and poor for a team with our ambitions, he is also poor under pressure with the ball.

Adam simply isn't the quality we need either as a starter or a reserve, he should never have been signed by us.

I would like to know more about this. IIRC his tacking stats were quite good at the start of last year. I remember discussing it a few times but this is the first post I found...

Bar the early free kick for a stupid challenge from behind, I thought Adam did ok defensively. 3 tackles won out of 3 according to Guardian and 6 interceptions, although I don't know why a foul doesn't count as a missed tackle.

Nope, I initially said I was worried after seeing him play 70 mins v Brazil as he was so bad in that game. You failed to understand that concept as per usual and refused to acknowledge I watched him in games after that and was justifiably unimpressed.

Not as good as "pussy" Meireles' though, who was all-round better defensively and a few million miles away from Lucas'.
