To put it in a more similar context, if someone we had known for a long time and had never been racist previously, in the middle of an argument where they felt my Mrs wrongly accused them in some way said 'I never did that you stupid black cunt'. I would be upset for sure, but I wouldn't immediately percieve it to be racist. If it was a bloke then the cunt would be fighting talk anyway. If it was a female then there'd be words about what was meant and to be carefull how they spoke etc.

I think there could be something about the rule of 3's in this. Saying things in groups of 3 not only sounds better but comes naturally too. What distinguishing feature does Anton have? He's not fat, ginger, a manc or chav, doesn't have a big nose etc so what in an instant comes to mind to fill that gap between stupid and cunt?

I too wouldn't assume them to be racist, but what they said was absolutely without question racist.

The idea that someone might have said 'black cunt' using 'black' just as an identifier rather than to add to the insult is wafer thin at best. People don't go around insulting people prefixing identifiers without intent to pour scorn on the fact that feel they can apply that identifier. Your pointing out things like fat/ginger/Manc proves that.

Saying 'that black guy is a cunt' is very different to saying 'that black cunt', and very obviously so to me. I am absolutely gobsmacked so many seem to think otherwise.

      Very well said.

It's obvious that if it had been Joey Barton, he wouldnt have called him a 'white cunt', it would just have been 'cunt'.

So clearly, Terry was making an issue of Ferdinand's ethnicity.

How you fail to see this as racism is infinitely beyond me, but each to their own.

Have you asked your wife's opinion on what she would think if she was called a black cunt?

I think Terry will find it difficult to crawl out of this one! And it was racist what he said!

Has there not been much of a media backlash about the fans? I couldn’t believe when I heard it last night and thought it would be a major talking point all day.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

But that was an actual case of racism rather than speculation. Where's the fun in that?

Well it's been widely condemned across all major media outlets (not that I've checked them all, but I've seen it on the BBC, Guardian and others). It's an open and shut case, not sure it's much of a talking point other than to condemn it.

****ing disgusting. Imagine if Suarez had been caught on camera as you say.

As for the insults, I'd most likely **** someone for calling me a P*** but cunt is water off a duck's back. Even tho the former is inaccurate (being half white/ Indian), it's what I got called as a kid when that sorta thing was more prevalent & I still see red when I hear it, it's just hardwired. I'd expect the black part of the insult is not dissimilar.

as has been said earlier using a phrase like Black C*** or a P*** C*** is meant in a degrogatory manner otherwise why put those words in front of C***.

It's meant to add emphasis to the insult.

I am right in thinking Terry has admitted to saying what he's said just we missed the words before hand saying "I'd never call you....add insult" ?

Yeah he did admit to that.

As if anyone's going to believe it.

The comparisons between the Suarez & Evra incident and the Terry & Ferdinand incident are laughable. Terry was clear cut from the moment he confirmed that he admitted to saying "I'd never call you...*caught the rest on camera*", yet a month later and not one sniff of evidence has been presented against Suarez.

Cunts. **** the media too, they're cunts.

                              ****ing racist pricks on Twitter.

Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with racist abuse posted on a Premier League footballer's Twitter account.

Sammy Ameobi, who plays for Newcastle alongside older brother Shola, was called a "n****r" by a follower with the username @JonnnnyPhipps after the footballer tweeted a photo of a black pair of boots.

The 19-year-old, who broke into the first team at the end of last season and is becoming a fans' favourite, retweeted the abuse he received, and his attacker's account was closed down.

Both Newcastle United and the player reported the matter to police.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said today: "On Wednesday November 2 Northumbria Police arrested two young men, both aged 17, on suspicion of malicious communication.

"The arrests come after reports of a racist tweet being sent to one of the region's professional sportsmen."

Ameobi had posted a message alongside the photo of the Nike boots, saying: "There will always be a place in my heart for the all blacks."

The abuser replied: "Your hand is nearly the same colour. £n****r."

Retweeting the message, Ameobi added: "Sad to see some people are still racist nowadays."

The police investigation follows allegations of racial abuse directed at Anton Ferdinand of QPR and the Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
                              Are we winning?
