I think we’ve discussed “beast” before in this context and I’m of the opinion it’s been subverted from it’s original sporting etymology “beast mode” from the Altered Beast game and is now used by some as a racist trope like mandingo was historically.
Given the ambiguity it’s probably best swerved as a descriptor for a black athlete.
