As much as I hate Big Sam and think it was funny as **** when they sacked him, it was a crazy decision to sack him and appoint Kean.

Isn't that where the problem lies though? They gave him a £5m war chest in the summerOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostI can't see him keeping them up though. Not unless they spend massive amounts in january.
Some of these Blackburn fans seem to have delusions of grandeur, they were always going to be bottom half of the table, just so happens they seem to be getting caught up in the relegation scrap early onWe managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

In fairness they were doing ok until Steve Kean took overOriginally posted by Gaz View PostIsn't that where the problem lies though? They gave him a £5m war chest in the summer

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Honestly not sure it was. I'm not convinced that Kean is the right choice but Sam was never going to part of a club that wanted to progress and make money by developing players. He was also never going to bring any sort of attractive football.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostAs much as I hate Big Sam and think it was funny as **** when they sacked him, it was a crazy decision to sack him and appoint Kean.
Kean did as well as Alladyce was likely to do (keep them in the division) and developed some players much better. I don't think he looks to be good enough to be a PL manager long term but I actually think he has done a better and more interesting job that Big Sam would have done.
Early in his career Alladyce was capable of innovation and perhaps even making interesting teams. Now he seems stuck in a tedious, almost self parodying rut."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Did you see West Ham last night? Effective but dire..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Had the pleasure of travelling home from Brighton on the train with all the Brighton/West Ham fans after the game. Bad timing on my part.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostDid you see West Ham last night? Effective but dire.
Which is completely irrelevant to what I was actually going to say.
I heard some West Ham fans on the radio after the game last night, and this morning, saying that they'd had enough of Allardyce and his style of play. Despite going second it appears some fans still don't want him there.

Yeah I kind of agree really.Originally posted by Lee View PostI think when your team is in the Championship you can't be too fussy with the style of play. It's a dog-eat-dog league and probably one of the toughest in Europe. All about results and not lovely football.
But West Ham fans seem to have this thing about "playing the West Ham way". Whatever that is.

I don't blame them. It was horrible, they never even tried to play football.Originally posted by Reece View PostHad the pleasure of travelling home from Brighton on the train with all the Brighton/West Ham fans after the game. Bad timing on my part.

Brighton weren't very good but at least they attempted to keep it on the ground and play it around - too much, sadly, given that's how West Ham's winner came about.
Gus Poyet's voice is lower these days. I remember in his first interview on British television, he sounded like Speedy Gonzalez. It was much better.
Anyway, er, Kean out..

I find that expression offensive.
It's not unlike the Liverpool way of playing. You know, pass and move, etc.Originally posted by Reece View PostYeah I kind of agree really.

I take the point about beggars and choosers but then again I think we can understand how they feel, given our appalling experience in the first few months of last season. I said at the time I didn't want Hodgson even if his methods were effective, and that's clearly how some West Ham fans feel about Jabba..

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. They played good football under Redknapp but I can't recall them ever playing this famous 'West Ham way' that we keep hearing.
