No Dave they should follow the rules, one of the reason Society in certain parts of the world is totally ****ed is people have no respect for rules and authority. If the break them and wear it, England should get banned from competitions.

How would you feel about an Armband with a Poppe on it, you could auction them all off for charity afterwards ?

Popee armbands are well within the rules and regulations

Obey the Rules because they are the rules?

Thank ****s the social campaigners of the 19th century didnt have that view.

My view on an armband is completely irrelevant. I'm saying if the FA want to wear the shirt, do it.

Comparing a broken society where people do horrible things to each other to wearing a shirt with an image on it is a little crass imo.

If, and I repeat IF England were to wear a shirt with a poppy on, and FIFA did ban them from competitions then better off out of it - As I have said they only issue piss poor fines for racial abuse and hurling bananas at black players.

I call Bull**** .... if you want to wear a poppy they can do via an Armbands, I find it Ironic that there is a perfectly good and fair alternative available but no Its we want it our way or no way. great conflict resolution, what a wonderful way to remember the brave solders who killed each other on behalf of the establishment.

Why don't they paint their faces red and wear black noses? Simples.

You should wear it because you want to, not because you feel you have to.

It shouldn't be obligatory to wear the poppy. It is certainly not necessary to wear it for 90 minutes on a football pitch. I'm surprised there wasn't a minute silence at all grounds for the death of Jimmy Savile. Too many people are knee jerkers without stepping back and thinking.

The rules apply to international teams I think.

I wonder how Cameron and the tabloids would react if the next time we played Argentina they decided to wear a symbol in rememberance of their dead from the falkland islands war? Not exactly equivalent, but having allowed the display of the poppy it would be hard to stop them even if people wanted to. I actually think this is a sensible decision by FIFA.

In response to that article above, I do agree many people wear poppies to present themselves in a favourable light. That's typical of many things though & shouldnt preclude others wearing them. The sympathy is for the death & suffering of the common man, not the cause itself. Just because you dont understand the reality of warfare doesnt mean you cannot picture it sympathise. I dont understand starvation & have never endured a natural disaster- does that mean I should never give to those charities either?

Re FIFA, Kenneth, youre probably right.

I always felt the special kits are pretty ostentatious, btw. We refused to wear them in the past, didnt we?

We've played international games on the weekend of Remembrance Sunday before - without a poppy on the shirt in fact without a shred of attention on the issue - and it's never, ever been a problem. So why now?

Deflecting attention in another direction? Away from the race issues? Everyone is talking about this now, rather than if Terry should be playing.
