Perhaps that's true for the FA.

The media and politicians (and corporations) use football because it's one of the few ways left to engage with the mass of the population.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

English reaction to FIFA poppy ban helps explain why England lost 2018 World Cup bid, and probably won't host a World Cup for decades
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Isn't it only the last few years that clubs have started including a poppy on their shirts, I don't remember every seeing it more that ~4-5years ago.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            I agree with this.

Oh dear, looks like Cameron's going to make a big issue about this.

It's like asking your mate to borrow a fiver and you expect him to say 'yes' but he says 'no' and you get into a huff about it.

I agree that there are other ways they could show rememberance. There's even a minute's silence before the game.

Cameron is a cunt of course he is going to make a big deal over this, his Malcolm Tucker would have said to him Billy ****ing DayTime TV and his Girlfriend with 16 kids will think you are Patriotic and Thacther like if you make a Gesture, knowing full well that he has more chance of winning the lottery 5 times in a row than FIFA saying actually you know what your right we are wrong

It's a useful diversion from the fact his Home Secretary appears to have endangered public safety.

                        John Terry must be relieved.

How could that be anything but disrespectful. It's a completely blinkered view and although you might not want it to be, it's very insulting.

I actually wear one because the red offsets quite nicely with my suit.

Can't have the Poppy as War Porn, if that's what Nic..Mr Nice was referring to ?

Because as far as i'm concerned it's a symbol of rememberance, a reminder that war is horrible, and not a celebration of war itself.

However i've no problem with people who don't want to wear them, each to their own, but there's certainly no need to disrespect it's meaning.
