If politicians are involved it's a political act, no matter how you turn it.
No disrespect for anyone, my great-grandad fought in the WWI, albeit on a different side to much of yours (not that there was any choice otherwise for Slovenes at that time), but FIFA have got it right this time.
I call Bull**** .... if you want to wear a poppy they can do via an Armbands, I find it Ironic that there is a perfectly good and fair alternative available but no Its we want it our way or no way. great conflict resolution, what a wonderful way to remember the brave solders who killed each other on behalf of the establishment.
The point of the rule is to avoid politicising football.
If the rule only prevents it from being worn on a shirt then its a **** rule. If people can circumvent the rule by wearing an armband (or as Steve Rotherham has suggested displaying it anywhere possible - Boots gloves ball hair face nets) then it still allows the political and religious images to appear in football, its still pointless, its still stupid.
notice there was a shot of a ref with the poppy on his shirt (all over SSN's) tbh a mountain has been made out of a mole-hill now.
I don't think anyone would have minded if they'd have been allowed to wear it on the shirt infact I don't think anyone would have commented on in any negative way at all FIFA by banning it have turned it into this media circus which of course is now being used as a political tool to carry favour with the public.

One of the EDL protestors on Fifa's roof is Kevin Carroll, convicted of hurling abuse at Muslims during a soldiers' homecoming parade

Cameron is playing with fire. But as I said it's a useful diversion.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Which is more damning is that England are gunning to host Athletics world championships (and I think a decision is due today). I know it's nothing related to football but surely, this won't help. FFS.

Given the context
What is the policy on this issue of the Mauritian FA, Nigelly Nigelly?

Its a sad day when you simply cannot show a gesture of support to those that have died in the pursuit of our freedom. However, there are set rules about political emblems on the shirts so thats that, almost every war is political.
The fires are obviously being stoked by the tory media, sensing an opportunity for cameron to jump on his white horse, fully kitted out in armour whilst carrying the st george flag (free with The Sun) aloft before he heads into battle with FIFA, as the masses line the streets and applaud.
Good man that Dave.

The symbolism is far more complex than you suggest. The very fact the bandwagon has been jumped by the EDL shows it's a political vehicle as well as a charitable one.
I agree with everything else you said there though.
Hang on, you were being sarcy about Dave, yeah?
