Worryingly though, dreadful players do have a habit of scoring against us so im expecting the worst next weekend. He can join the list of Lisbie, Corrado Grabbi, Mateja Kezman, Helder Postiga etc.
Torres a dreadful player . Don't be ridiculous.

Capello deserves a lot of credit for that result as he got his tactics spot on. Unfortunately in competitive games he cant replace the whole of his midfield 5 (ball chasers) so they dont tire and concede space.

I predicted before the game that England would only score through a set piece and that was pretty much the only chance they had.

Spain weren't at their best and took off their two best players of the first half in Xavi and Silva. England got lucky in the first half with a couple of off side decisions and rode their lucky big time in the second half with missed chances, hitting the post, poor final ball etc.

But credit where's credit due, a decentish performance from England and tactically astute from Capello. However, tournament football is a completely different beast.

Let's hope the press don't suddenly think we're amongst the favourites for the Euros.

And fans celebrating a win, whatever next? I bet the welsh and scottish fans wouldve all sat there with faces like smack asses whilst discussing the merits of a friendly victory.
Get off the high horse, they are dancing, jumping around and acting as if they'd just won the World Cup. It wouldnt be so embarrassing if they were actually a good side who held their own when it mattered, but as the other lad just said, they're the Everton of international football.

There'll be a DVD released before Christmas

Capello will always be fighting a losing battle with good old Arry waiting in the wings to save us.

This result is perfectly timed actually, we've been here before, we know the drill...

England produce a good win (when it doesnt matter) 7 months before the tournament....the fans start going idiotic mental, the press start building up expectations, the whole thing snowballs through the spring, upto June when england are suddenly favourites, Capello is suddenly great again, it's their's to lose etc etc....

And then the usual happens, they get shown up for being average, the fans turn on the players, who turn on the press, who turn on the manager and the whole thing implodes, recovering in perfect time for the start of the World Cup qualifiers, when the whole hilarious process starts again

He was pretty crap when he came on today but dreadful he is not. Certainly not the player he was at his zenith with us either but surely you can't actually think he is dreadful? Poulsen and Konchesky were dreadful for supposed top players, well in my eyes. Torres doesnt even come close to that level of dreadfulness.

Interesting Rafa Benitez said beforehand, that Spain can struggle at the back post from set pieces http://www.rafabenitez.com/web/index...a=40&idioma=in

He's been dreadful for over a year. Has had about 5 good performances though to be fair allbeit in amongst about 40-50 shockers.

Not Koncheskyesque but woeful all the same.

You'd certainly be pissed off if you were Roman and had spunked £50 million on him

He looked like he was getting back to some kind of decent form before he got suspended but he's been ****e again since, well compared to his previous high standards.

Haha indeed, didnt think of it like that. £50m and about 150k a week with little resale value, ouch. Will go down as one of the worst deals of all time.

Unfortunately we spent £35 million of it on Carroll. Not saying he wont come good but it's not looking overly promising at the moment is it?
