The other thing is, what do you do if you're the defending team and think this is happening? Obviously if the attacking team are caught out they are going to claim they weren't trying to work this one and were genuinely changing corner takers, but if the defender has booted the ball up field they would likely get a yellow card...
Hmm, OK, thanks. It still feels to me like we did it once too (although we didn't score from it).

If it's the assistant's side then it's OK (or should be, if they're doing their job properly) but if the one at that end is over the other side then it's a lottery as to whether an official will see what happened.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think you're right..........for some reason I remember it happening in a European match, might have involved Baros in the move ????

If so then it seems even more bizarre for Martinez to single out Anfield, i.e. us, unless there was a big furore about it that led to a change of policy by referees that professional clubs are aware of but that we punters haven't noticed.

The only other explanation I can think of is he refers to us because he's scared of upsetting the LMA by mentioning the most obvious beneficiary of favourable, incorrect decisions but that way madness lies.

Baros? Garcia? Champions League? Bayer Leverkusen?

            Maybe.

I don't know, I can't find more on it except a few posts from about 18 months ago on LFC Online suggesting we did try it, the ref ordered it retaken and it involved Baros and Leverkusen, Olympiakos or Juventus.

I think they are better. We seem to be lacking top striker and a creative midfielder.

Those would be nice additions but given we've got more points than them since Kenny has been here and we've been without one of our best players the whole time I dont think they are better, we're pretty similar though, we've got some obvious better areas, theyve got some obvious better areas and some other positions are 50/50.

They've got to start performing v Chelsea, Utd and City aswell before the hype is justified.

Reason it sticks in the mind, is because of all the wanking over the Mancs when they done it that time, and it was all "ooh they're magic, ooh they're so clever, ooh they're remarkable etc etc" from the commentators............and there was more than one debate about how our lads tried something similar a good while back on the interweb.

No doubt we weren't the first to be trying it either.

Yeah, that rings a bell for me too.

We're definitely on to something here. Pity no-one else gives a sh*t.

They finished above us last season and are above us so far this season, they are better. They have more better areas than us, we've got a lot of areas that we're still unsure of. However, our squad gives us better depth which could make the difference.

Using Roy Hodgson is hardly fair. Since we've got a proper manager we have got more points than them. We were 11 points behind them when Hodgson left and finished 4 behind. If they finish ahead of us this season then fair enough.

More, really? Keeper is ours. Defence is ours bar King, midfield is theirs bar Lennon (Kuyt and Maxi scored more last season than he has in nearly 3). Then attack its take ya choice as they are effective and playing but not sure theres a manager in the world who'd choose VDV/Adebayor over Gerrard/Suarez if we are honest.

Theyve got the edge in mentality v **** teams at home, we've got the edge in mentality v big teams. Theres really not much in it, failing to see them as better and having more better areas than us though.
