It's a pissing contest isn't it. Mourinho is trying to assert his status on the league now that Fergie's stepped down. If he can prize Rooney from Utd then it will cement Chelsea's position as the most desirable club in the league.

I don't think for one minute that Chelsea need Rooney for footballing reasons. They could have their pick of Madrid players IMO, or at least the ones that got along with Mourinho

I think Rooney is clearly unwanted at Manchester United.....Although there is a new manager in place the old issues still persist.......

Its got Fergusons whisky stained fingers all over this.

He may well feel unwanted but I think they'd rather keep him. His scoring record there is pretty good after all and it's testimonial year next year

United responded with, take what you value Luiz/Mata at and add £10m
as if to say that Rooney is as important if not more to United as Luiz/Mata to chelsea

          or something like that

That's not a good way to do business, as it seems Mourinho doesn't rate Mata or Luiz, as it seems he wants rid of both. The Chavs should just say we rate them at £1m here's £11m then

I still think it is just too mad. The valuations are ****ed at the very least.

The valuations are mad, especially as you would think Rooney would have the
                higher salary.

If one were into inventing conspiracy theories you might suggest Chelsea may want to sell Mata and for that to be known whilst also wanting to deny the same.

FWIW worth I think Rooney would work excellently in a Mourinho formation if he had the motivation.

Fwiw I've seen them correct their own stories, sport and general news, relatively often, especially since the advent of 24hr news channels and twitter which encourage outlets to run with things as fast as poss.
I actually think there has been a big change at the BBC regarding this over the past year. In the past they would not report anything unless is it was 100% but ever since their writers became famous through twitter they seem to have started reporting more and more speculative stories on the main site

Interesting that the initials of the BBC guy who ran it today are BS.

Moyes is in over his head big time. The wheels will fall off

Hopefully it'll happen nice and slowly though, don't want him sacked in time to salvage the season.

I couple of draws, the odd uncharacteristic loss and then, BANG, a 6 match losing streak around Xmas would be lovely

That would be too good to be true though.

I hope the manU board stick to they're principles and give Moyes the same 6 years (and an open cheque book) that it took fergie to win the league. That would allow Moyes enough time to **** things up royally!
