Saw this on redcafe (which is in meltdown)

Moyes' time at Everton, and now really thinking about him being our manager, raises some concerns.

While at Everton, he made do with a tight budget, which worries me that he might do the same at United if the Glazers decide to clamp down with Fergie gone. They did similar to the Bucs after their Super Bowl appearance. Focus on low-cost young players and move them on when they demand money. Moyes won't have the influence to demand anything from the owners. Especially with Gill leaving also, Moyes' budget-mindedness bothers me. We don't know how he'll handle having money or if he's very effective at spending it. He's bought some absolute plodders for fairly large sums(Beattie, Yakubu).

His record in the Champions League is virtually nonexistent. He's been to one FA Cup final. How does he handle the high pressure situations of the top end of the table late in the season? In knockout competitions?

Stylistically, he's not very exciting. Everton rarely play expansive, attractive football. Will he know what to do with strikers?
First: Sir Alex says we're looking at 1-2 players
Second: Ed Woodward says we don't need to invest
    Third: Sir Alex resigns
Fourth: Manager used to doing the job the cheap appointed

Even if Ferguson stayed I wouldn't fancy them for the title next season. So when Moyes starts losing a few games, playing ****, negative football, and lumping it up to RVP and Fellaini, the United fans will get restless. Totally new territory for them, out of their comfort zones and a new manager in - with no United connections - who's won absolutely **** all. They'll turn on him by Christmas if it's not going well. As red_g said ealier, they could be in for a rude awakening and it's going to be fun to watch.

This is our chance IMO to get the bit between our teeth in the summer and really strengthen the squad and push on as its downhill for united with Fergie gone.

Just had a quick look on Red Cafe

        Please no.
**** off Moyes. Totally unproven and won nothing. **** off.
I can't believe its Moyes. All these years we've waited for this and its Moyes.
Someone Spurs decided wasn't right, is right for United. Ok.
        He'll bring Gibson back - that's a plus.
For the love of god please not Moyes.

Typical united fans throwing their Moyes out the pram

Moyes has got all our enemies licking their chops. He's done nothing in 11 years, has no CL experience and has never managed big star players.

On the other hand we could have went for Mourinho who has won league titles in 4 different countries, has won the CL twice and has managed some of the biggest names in the game.

I feel sick at the thought of Moyes and his ugly brand of football steering United forward.

If Moyes does actually end up managing them (so weird even typing that out), I hope he doesn't take Baines with him. He's one of the only Everton players I actually don't mind. In fact, I'd say I kind of like him. He's quiet, humble, and listens to much better music than the average footballer.

I'd laugh - *another* Scouser at United for the fans to make themselves look complete ****s over.

                  Good old Redcafe

Imagine how the interview will go....

Interview Panel: "Well David... obviously a big expectation here at Manchester United is to win trophies, and lots of them at that... can you please tell us your experience of winning trophies in the past?"

David Moyes: "Ah... well... I haven't actually won anything in the past... but I've stayed at Everton for a really really long time! And I've been voted their manager of the year every year I've been there"

Panel: "Oh Longevity? That's a nice trait... and you know what they say, first time for everything and all that... but I mean, as long as we go far in Europe we'll be fine, so can you tell us of your prior experience in Europe?"

David: "Erm, well I don't actually have any of note (under breath) bar losing a few pre-qualification matches ahem... but erm, I've sat in the Sky studio on a Wednesday night before! Boy those Jamie's pants are tight aye? Oh, and I've been at Everton a really long time... me and Phil Neville are best mates.

Panel: "Oh we do like Phil.... and never mind aye, so long as we consitently achieve champions league qualification?"

David: "I've been at Everton a really long time... and I sold Steven Pienaar to Tottenham for a couple of million and got him back for a bag of skittles and season 4 of Lost."

                  Panel: "When can you start..."

Astonished by this. Always thought Ferguson would retire out the blue, However, I never in a million years believed they would punt for Moyes, a manager so totally unproven at the highest level of football and in Europe. I'm ****ing gobsmacked. We have seen how one bad appointment can ruin a club and the years worth of success start to unravel so quickly.

This is brilliant. This is the first time that the United **** generation have had to endure a managerial hunt since 1986.
We've bundled through 7 or 8 during the same period. (Just making sure...Kenny, Souness, Evans, Evans/Houllier, Houllier, (Thommo doesn't count), Benitez, Hodgson, Kenny, Rodgers = 9). ****ing 9. And some want it to be 10.

Whoever United get in, it's not going to be Ferguson. And that's ace.
I'm hoping this is their Souness moment, Moyes goes in tears the team to shreds and the cunts don't win a title again.
Fat chance though, i've a horrible feeling he's going to do alright
                      We come not to play.

People will point to how much Chelsea and City have spent but when you consider half his time at United has been in the 90's and earlier that's a huge amount.

Ferdinand a CB for £30m was unheard of, same can be said for £30m on a teenage striker.

I like the fact Ferguson appears to have essentially appointed Moyes. All the journos etc on Twitter fawning over his "unparallelled football knowledge" and that if he's picked Moyes then who is anyone else to argue - not long ago Ferguson was recommending McLeish to everyone FFS
