@RobHarris: Revealed: If Man Utd fail to qualify for CL in 2 or more consecutive seasons, Adidas cash drops 30% to £52.5m/year from 2nd year without CL
@RobHarris: Man Utd tell investors "our popularity in certain countries .. may depend at least in part on fielding certain players from those countries"
@RobHarris: Man Utd:"No assurance football will retain its popularity as a sport around the world & its status in the UK as the so-called national game"
So the quoted figure of £75m a season is guaranteed unless they don't qualify for the champion's league for two seasons running. And if they win it or the league they actually get $7m more on top! Crazy deal.
It's all in the prospectus for their share issue. Obviously we won't like it but it is what it is. They've pulled a massive deal out of the bag while being utterly ****e. Ups the ante for the rest when they come up for renewal.
Manchester United: Champions League warning for Red Devils
By Mike Keegan
BBC Sport
Manchester United's world record £750m kit deal with Adidas will be cut by 30% if they fail to qualify for the Champions League in consecutive seasons from 2015-16.
The German sportswear giant could also cancel the contract if the club get relegated from the Premier League.
Of course but it's easier to do that if you have endless wads of cash. They've plenty of work to be doing in that squad anyway. Van Gaal's **** will only wash for a certain period of time too before the club and everyone in it gets sick of everything being about him.
