Not being funny but when people have said in the past "how many of our squad would get in scum/Chavs etc, others usually retort that it's a bad way of looking at things & too simplistic.

There is more to it than just the players it depends on systems and complimenting each other as well but for me there aren't that many players I'd currently take from the Mancs side.

I'd take De Gea, Shaw, Mata, Herrera, Januzaj and Hernandez (squaddie).

Rooney is out for his crazy wages, and RVP would want to start and I don't think he suits the way we play (he's lazy, error prone and one dimensional).

If I was them I'd take Lovren, Sakho, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Markovic, Lallana, Sturridge from us.

I don't think you can discount someone for their wages if you're doing it on a merit-based criteria- which, by implication, you are. Likewise, I don't think we'd not benefit from having rvp in the squad, cunt tho he is.

If you take wages out of it I'd have Rooney. I still wouldn't have Van Persie though.

They aren't. That's the point. Excuses being made that it was their strongest team but we played our strongest team available at this moment in time.

I think the point is that their strongest team is very close to the one they put out but our strongest team is very different due to the issues mentioned.

Yes we put out the best team available (near enough) but our actual best XI is very different to that. United's isn't.

They were missing two players, we were missing 3. Not much in it really. They are weak at the back and we are too so far anyway. Nothing much appears to have changed from last season so I hope Lovern and the two new fullbacks change it. We badly need a new striker too.

And to be fair, only one of our missing trio can we say with any certainty would have improved that team last night. The other two should, but it's not guaranteed.

I was just wondering, I thought it seemed like United have been playing strong teams in their fixtures. I wasn't really looking for excuses.....this was a friendly after all.

A Utd "mate" of mine pointed out to me that after Madrid won this last year they won the CL. I left is a second or two before I pointed out that they would not be repeating that. He mumbled something and walked away.
