I agree in part. Think both players will perform better than their united counterparts whilst maybe not being as skillful but whilst having experience of this league

A bigger issue would be keeping the likes of Di Maria, Falcao etc if they miss out on the CL again.

        Certainly.

United are in rude financial health. Even with their European predicament. Even with their massive debt. The are like Jupiter in premier league solar system. With FFP, they will come even further into their own.
        Oh I don't know.

Who exactly are these players Phil? Mata? Rooney? Van Persie? Don't make me laugh. They are good players but no Galacticos - that to me means the best players in the world in their position.

An argument can be made for Di Maria, but he was ****ed off by the club synonymous with Galactico signings (against his wishes I might add). And Falcao I guess Falcao could come into that bracket but how successful he'll be is questionable. It would be no surprise at all if he did his knee again in a couple of months.

Anyway, Suarez is far superior to Falcao.
Saw that Neville interview on football focus last night. It was hilarious. The guy is a total cretin.
          Are we winning?

            £122m Net is ****ing outrageous.

£122m and they have a piss weak defence is just bizarre - why continue to strengthen in the wrong areas. Players who have never played in the division to fit in, a basic lack of fixtures (only PL and FA cup left). You would think they could benefit the way we did last season but the balance in their squad is ****ed. There are going to be big name players left out of the XI (RvP?) and if not then the first XI is going to be like when Ardiles had Spurs playing with 5 up front. They will (should) blow away some of the smaller teams, but even the smaller teams will fancy grabbing a goal.

Crazy money and they still look very beatable.

United have actually just proved that.

              Did you just quote yourself

Anways don't agree with that, you can't just look at what an average team get's as that's totally disregarding the market pool where United recieves a huge share, last year amounting to 24m alone. United last season from recieved 45m from a moderatly good campaign (source UEFA's own material). And that is completely ignoring the sponsorship money for being in the CL, something that is worth a lot of money because of the popularity of the tournament world wide and the fans acquired from being in it consistently. I would guess that extra sponsor money and marketability is worth something some extra 20m or so.

CL is defo worth a lot to clubs, and I honestly think you are underestemating the significance in the longer run. It's okay to be out of it for a year, but looking at us as an example it can really do damage of a number of seasons and a huge difference in atractiveness coming back in it.

And as said the importance of it is really connected to the break even of your budget, and not viewed in isolation. And if judged by articles previously written about united's financial state I would say for them it's hugely important.

I did. I thought it was preferable to an edit.

Just done some quick guesstimates on their new wage bill too:

Players in: An extra £830k a week in wages
Players out: Minus £400k a week in wages.
Total: £390k a week more in wages this season.

A total of £20.28m more a year in wages this season.

That doesn't actually sound that bad. Are you including Nani's wages too? Can you show us your workings please?

I took notes from Pablos recent lecture on 'the insane wage structure of Manchester Utd and Mad Louis Van Gaal'.
