**** 'em, surprisingly not arsed about what United are up to. We're so good I don't ****ing care If they want to blow their wad all over an overpaid 28 year old with chronic knee problems then so be it, not exactly planning for the future is it? I'm loving what is going on at LFC too much to care*

If they don't get into the top 4 this year after over £150,000,000! spent then it would be considered the biggest failure in the PL era, surely?

Any chance they make it on Arsenal's expense?

Yeah, I was having a discussion about that with someone last night. In my opinion after spending that much top 4 isn't enough... They have to at least be in the running for the title.

Top four will give them CL, and make it easier getting the right players. After that they are back in contention.

Wenger's record is perfect when it comes to CL qualification, but I think United fans will be looking at them first in the teams they've got to overhaul.

they can only afford to drop a couple of points in the next 5 games, should be relatively easy for them.....but we said that about the first 3 too!!

after that the fun starts with city, chelsea and arsenal in quick succesion.

A refreshingly balanced take on the United situation... (Sarcasm)

On paper the first 'hard' game they face this season is home to Everton on the 5th of October. The 5th of October!

End of October / November is when things start getting interesting for them. They play Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal in the space of 4 games.

Given the money spent and their run of fixtures between now and then if they're not in the top 4 by then they're going to struggle mightily.

yep they need to be winning the easy games while that team is settling.

Anyone with top 4 aspirations, should probably be taking 16-20 points from those first 8 games unless they plan on getting all there points against the top 4!!

Does the champions league and uefa cup winners both take a cl place ? so only the top two are guarenteed a place?

dont see why the uefa place would be at the expense of one of our cl places?

presume it will still be top 3 next season......

Because each country has a maximum of 4 teams in the Champions League.
