    Just Sunday paper gossip.....
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, who hinted on Friday at a "surprise" signing, will make another attempt to bring in £95m midfielder Gareth Bale, 26, from Real Madrid. (Sunday People)

United winger Angel Di Maria, 27, must hand in transfer request if he wants to leave Old Trafford for Paris St-Germain this summer. (Mail on Sunday)

Van Gaal is still searching for two more players to complete his squad, despite already making four additions for a total cost of about £80m. (Sunday Express)

Van Gaal's current spending stands at around £230m.

Have they got a stronger squad than us? I don't think so.
      Are we winning?

based on last season,i think it was an element of good fortune for them and and bad luck for us.And imo i think we have a better squad than them.

          They're miles ahead of us.

8 points behind last year isn't miles ahead. Especially when we finished 20 points ahead of them the year before.

You're wrong and you will be proved wrong this season.

So that's a 28 point swing in a single season? We've sold our best player and let's not forget that they qualified for the Champions League and have bought quality this summer. We've signed Danny Ings.

Is Danny Ings the only player we've signed?

They may be in the CL, but they will face a different challenge this year, having all those competitions to worry about. We nearly won the league two seasons ago, so you're way off in your analysis there. A 28 point swing in one single season just shows that we've had a bad season, not that we are a **** team.

A lot of people seemed to write them off last year as well, so a bit of common sense wouldn't be asking too much. We are not miles behind them and I would argue that we are the team with the better potential.

Based on the last 25 seasons or so it's fair to argue that the season we finished second and they finished seventh was an aberration. 'normal' service was resumed last season so to speak.

The last 25 years are irrelevant when we are talking about the current squad.

Sorry, but they are miles ahead of us.

I do expect us to improve this year though, but not enough.
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Wrong. Last season was the aberration when we lost both Suarez and Sturridge and failed to replace at least one even half adequately. On top of that we had to manage Gerrards retirement in the classiest way possible.

That aberration seems to have been rectified this season by getting our premier striker target early doors. Plus adding Firmino.

Utd were extremely lucky we were in such generous mood and De Gea had his best season ever to save their blushes (that's right the goalie. Not Falcao, RvP, Di Maria, Shaw, Rooney but the goalie).
                                One tit for another.
