Annoyingly, they seem to have found a bit of form and are now capable of grinding out a result.

True although they've also had a fair amount of "good fortune"

I wonder if the different playing styles actually has an effect. If you boot it upfield as soon as you get the ball the ref will have no chance of getting a good view of the next duel. If you play your way from the back, with loads of passes, the ref will have better time to get in right position. Which one tactic gives you an advantage when it comes to decisions from the ref I have no idea, but there could be a difference.
I personally think its more to do with speed of the players and reactions to tackles

Players are definitely quicker now, the game is quicker, so even clumsy tackles can look a little late

So the referees job has become more difficult in this alone

What they arent helped by is players rolling around the floor when they have barely been touched

Its become more and more prevalent in the modern game and whether its feigning injury to get players booked or sent off or whether its feigning injury to avoid a booking or a red card when they are the aggressor the whole thing is pathetic

Theres been 2 incidents over the holiday period that have wound me up no end

Phil Jones' reaction to Fehgouli's challenge, it was way way over the top. Whether he reacted that way due to contact (to get a player sent off) or as Kenneth has suggested to avoid a red card this sort of ****housery has no place in football imo

The second one was Ross Wallace (think that was his name) of Sheffield Wednesday who feigned injury after kicking out against a Newcastle player. He was late the ball had gone but he just kicked out at the player then proceeded to roll around the floor until he saw the referee produce a yellow card, whereupon he dramatically recovered. If I had been a referee there I would have sent him off for "acting a cunt"

Even last night in the Bournemouth / Arsenal game Ramsey exaggerated the contact which got the Bournemouth lad sent off

Lecter the problem with football is a lot of us have followed the game for 30/40/20 odd years depending on age and can't stand the actions of the modern players feigning injury etc

But you can bet that Mourinho don't give a **** either way.

Football has to stamp this **** out and if it means stopping the game to get the decision right it needs to be done like all sports now that use technology ,

The goal line technology has been brilliant in deciding what has happened quickly and stopped loads of replays and crap about whether it crossed the line.

I am all for technology. I wouldnt even mind someone "shadowing" the referees from the stands who could review key decisions or even inform the referee if the game has moved on from that incident

We should also have retrospective punishment for the cheating diving ****s who wreck the game and get their opponents sent off

It's ridiculous that the so called biggest sport is so slow to embrace technology. Particularly when it is there for everyone watching on TV to see.

Surely video replays would ease pressure on referees too.

You could even throw in 2 to 3 'challenges' for coaches to call dubious decisions to really mix it up.

Tech in football is a no-brainer. It's actually a valid addition to many sports like Rugby and Tennis where players actually also respect officials.

Yeah can we not have the referee subbed if he's having a shocker?

Definitely , it is no good happening the next game someone getting their ban over turned after playing the previous one with ten men for a bad decision.

                    already been punished

And then put them on a free transfer via a slow boat to China

Why China? Elon Musk makes space rockets for a fairly affordable price nowadays.
                              Are we winning?
