Is there a correlation between teenagers getting fabulous sums and their behaviour or are these people just cunts regardless?

Not just teenagers, half the famous Icelandic team has gone on to collect various charges for sexual, domestic and physical abuse. When these guys are elevated to such heights with the riches that come with it, they seem to lose their grounding.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Not just football or politics. The problem must run deeper than a lot us would care to acknowledge.

Thanks, just realised I better not say too much as there has been a massive public response and likely legal action.

Also learned from reading that threat that Jonny Evans was accused but never charged with rape. Possibly knew but slipped my mind that Nicky Butt was accused of domestic violence. Then of course there was Ronnie Wallwork who I assumed was immediately pushed out the door by DBF but on checking he had another 2 years at United.

Makes you wonder how much of this awful behaviour goes on at other clubs. Can't just be United must be others who are just better at covering it up.
Think it is part of society and probably a lot more so than we possibly all think..... The fact that Butt and Giggs are still welcome at Manchester United - on the staff in Butt's case??? - is worrying. Perhaps Manchester United should have a look in the mirror as an organisation.

However it is a societal issue. Jon Flanagan had a horrible episode..... And only a few months the KOP had a mural to Ray Kennedy....... He had a tough time with his illness but his wife left him because of ongoing domestic abuse...... The final straw being where he punched her in the face and threw her down the stairs.

Red Cafe has banned any Greenwood chat now which is probably for the best.

Why have they banned it? And why is it for the best?

Probably dont want people to log in and see their players are rapists. I certainly dont think its for the best. Things like this should be talked about in the open.

I guess there’s a fair bit of unsavoury talk about the victim or the incident that the site wants to prevent and distance themselves from. Which probably is for the best.

That would be fair if it was the case, but to be fair to them, I haven’t read anything on there that’s unsavory towards her (although I didn’t read much on there). From the little I did read, it seemed that 99.99% of them were condemning him, and the others weren’t excusing the crime, but saying nonsense like “how do we know it’s him on the recording, he’s innocent til proven guilty in court”, etc…

I think it’s much more productive to allow it to be discussed and moderators remove any vile posts, that are victim shaming or whatever, and ban the posters if deemed necessary.

Was more curious about whether they had to lock it due to legal issues, trial by media type scenario, with it being a forum with so many users/readers, but I don’t know anything about that kinda stuff, so would have been surprised if that was the case.. just odd- if it was one of our players, I’d be annoyed if EST banned people from talking about it.

Not sure why exactly . I guess they are worried about what responsibilities they have and there was definitely some pretty close to the knuckle content discussion wise in terms of other cases. I suspect a site like that with a slightly higher profile than this will be mined by the press.

And for the best because there wasn’t really a progressive discussion.

Maybe they could set up a thread on ‘rape culture’ (maybe they have) and look to discuss what happened in a more productive way.

Broadly speaking he was condemned, they were gutted and outraged. I definitely think thoughts around consent is a very important discussion for men to have.

I do think that while the points made on that site are generally sensible, the discussions are normally not so productive cos there’s too many people on there- I can’t imagine having a back and forth with someone on there because there’s too many comments to choose which one to reply to, etc. it’s more like a collection of comments as opposed to a discussion.

Agree 100% with your comments about discussions around consent. I do think it’s getting better though, in the sense that issues are being raised nowadays that in the past woukd have been swept under the rug. Still a long long way to go though, and not something that will be fixed overnight, or even ever be 100% fixed.
