I don't think they will be paying the clubs the fees over 8 years, but it's about the amortisation of the players so the book losses are spread over a longer period of time.

Nope, the 8 years only comes into play for FFP purposes hence the rule being changed to only allow a maximum of five years to count. Of course that rule change has caused Chelsea and others to get as many players as possible now before the bnew rules begins in the summer of 2023. Any deal made before then is exempt from the new rule.

It’s a huge huge gamble they’ve taken here.

I wouldn’t have wanted LFC to sign him for this much even if the money was there.

Massive gamble as is Caciedo at 90m vs 5m a year ago. Chelsea have ****ed the market now with the Fernandez and Mudryk deals - Mudryk was supposed to sign for Leverkusen for around 15m in the summer and the war stopped that

Only if he turns out to be a massive hit in the PL for them for years to come.

Will help to further mess up the prices for any half decent young player though. Can only imagine what Dortmund will hope to get for Bellingham now.

They are not the only ones that have done that, but they are certainly diving in and helping out with regards to raising asking prices for somewhat unproven young players with not a lot of games to their name in a top league or even a decent league.

Is not like we can point too many fingers though given how much we paid for Darwin in the summer.

Enzo F had a great World Cup so I can understand the inflation but Mudryk was madness - any wide forward will be compared to him when setting the price. Antony wasn’t a million miles away from that either though
