And to think, the PL said he was a fit and proper person when he bought Chelsea.

      Wow. Unprecedented.

There must be a few nerves now around the middle east, though I suspect they have more leverage and influence within FIFA and UEFA.

This is not going to bring the best out of Chelsea supporters. Which is quite a concept.

Think there is a minimum quota, so maybe they’ll have to give some away to other clubs.

So either Chelsea will have to pull out of the CL if they have a longer trip, or the players will have to book their own flights

The ‘charitable fund’ that Abramovich was going to donate the sale funds to will now be under uk government oversight, which can only be a good thing. Mental that so many people took his plan a face value.

I'll bet a lot of Chelsea players will be analysing their contracts.

None of them signed up for this sort of heat. They are representative and the 'elephant in the room' is now being spoken about.

I don’t expect the situation to drag on too long. The only issue is making sure the proceeds from of the sale don’t go to Abramovich, the government won’t want to hold up a sale.

                          There will be no sale

Can governments do this? Just sort of seize control of things and force the sale through? I understand it for services (gas, electric, water, transport) But a football club is a private company, no clue where its registered.

I mean obviously they are. But can they do it for anything?
                            *Except Michael, who died.

At the moment, they aren’t doing that. It will be complex, but the company has a board who need to act in the best interests of the club. As we saw with Hicks and Gillette, the owners don’t necessarily have total control and a sale can be forced. A sale is definitely in Chelsea’s best interests, everybody’s best interests, so I’m sure a sale will happen. How the funds are distributed is going to have to be for the government to determine. Likely a trust of some sort with independent trustees.
