Can governments do this? Just sort of seize control of things and force the sale through? I understand it for services (gas, electric, water, transport) But a football club is a private company, no clue where its registered.

I think every last cent/pence/dollar of seized assets should at some point be given directly to the Ukraine to help with their rebuilding. Saying that with the hope that the Ukraine stays an independent country when this all ends

Depends on whether the objective is to recruit them in an effort to initiate regime change in Russia. Taking their assets without any sort of carrot dangling won't encourage much cooperation will it

Billionaires without their billions are just schmucks like the rest of us. What are they going to do? Draft a harshly worded email that just ends up in a spam folder?

Let the ones that lose their money be the incentive for the rest of them to push for change lest they end up losing their dosh as well.

So what happens if Putin ends the war….. do we think all of that will be given back to them? Do we think all sanctions will be lifted and Putin can plan his next attack….
