Its a bit unsavoury kicking them when they're down, but they put themselves in this situation by bending financial rules to win against financially limited competition in the first place.

i was talking to a sweaty sock rangers fan at work this evening and he knows they are ****ed.
they are not reaping the rewards for the previous owners borrowing to build a team that they couldnt afford, and have struggled to meet the interest payments for. it has taken several years, but the stack of cards has come tumbling down.
its hard to believe the SFA have stood back and allowed things to spiral out of control. now scottish football wil implode. sky might try and get all the teams together and convince them that it is essential for the league that they keep rangers in, but there is some hatred, and they might relish the chance to twist the knife.
if the english FA dont sort out some level of control over clubs spending then it will only be a matter of time before more english clubs fold, and have to be re-born in the local leagues before they can win promotion to the football league proper. pompey were lucky to go into administration and not be wound up. its a fair bet that blackburn may be the next major casualty.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Ah 'Sweaty Sock' the nicest of all ways for myself and my countrymen to be referred to
Your Rangers mate is only partially right. The club is suffering due to the previous clubs inability to pay the Taxman. That may be because of loans, but essentially there was one debt being avoided HMRC. And that is before we go into the issue of the illegal trust funds that players were being paid and not taxed upon (The Big Tax case).
Rangers have been caught cheating, plain as that. Rangers supporters might dream that their expulsion will lead to the implossion of Scottish football, but it won't. Blaming the SFA is equally laughable, it was Rangers themselves who weren't paying there bills - nothing to do with the SFA. It is a shame for all Rangers supporters that they will lose their club. But the arrogance they display, lack of awareness that this was all their own doing, awareness that they were cheating all the other teams in the league and arrogance that Scottish Football needs them in it, and they shouldn't have to face their due punishment is EXACTLY why most other supporters are angered towards them and feel they should face full punishment.Modifying post.

I think Scottish football will suffer massively from the loss of Rangers, but you can understand why the other teams and supporters are ****ed off and want to see them punished.
The problem with this will be the short and possibly long term effects this has on Scottish football being able to bring revenue into the game, be it tv money or sponsorship. I fancy this is the start of a long dark period for Scottish football which is a shame.Last edited by RichC; 23-06-12, 09:17 AM.

The thing is if this wasn't Rangers (or Celtic) this wouldn't even be an issue, any other club would find themselves starting over, if Rangers are allowed to start again in the SPL it shows that there are different rules for them. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It is a definite danger. On the other hand it could represent an opportunity if more clubs and consequently a wider range of players get European experience and clubs decide to make a financially viable league with an emphasis on developing homegrown youth.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostI think Scottish football will suffer massively from the loss of Rangers, but you can understand why the other teams and supporters are ****ed off and want to see them punished.

Scotland has an excellent reputation for developing coaches but much of the rest of their system seems very broken; from player development, to refereeing, there seems many things that could be improved upon if the SFA can get the politics right."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
