He should play more often, think we will see more from him if we do that

He also looks somewhat fitter and it was interesting to hear Brad Jones praising him for the extra work he has been doing

Its always good to see players staying behind after training to work on things

Shows they actually care (something that many people have criticised him for)

I thought he looked pretty poor the rest of the game.

He has no chemistry with Suarez at all. The only time he gets a good chance is on the outside chance Downing beats his man and puts a cross in. Both players I would sell in the summer. They are both really only in the team as we dont have another recognised winger or striker.

It was a good goal though. It would be nice to see him go on and start putting them in regularly, but I am far from convinced at this stage. We need to buy another striker anyway. I think he is playing for his Liverpool career between now and the end of the season, or if nothing else, to add a few pounds to his resale value.

I respect your opinion but you're wrong

I think you have to earn it - not just in games but in training/preparing for the next game. I think it is difficult from the outside to know whether that was the case. It seems plausible to me that having to fight/prove himself has resulted in improvements in him, which now means Kenny has faith in him and is willing to start him regularly.

The commitment has never really been there for me, that has been the biggest issue.

If he play's poorly people have the right to question him and vent their frustrations and if he play's well people have the right to celebrate it.

Just because someone vents their frustrations when things are going wrong doesn't mean they can't celebrate the good times as well.

This photo shows just how good his goal was. Look at the mutant, he has almost ripped the shirt off Andy

Fellani looks more intent of fouling the pony tailed scoring machine than actually challenging for the ball.

That's true but a couple of times he's put in decent performances for a couple of games where he has showed signs of improvement maybe even he's scored then he's found himself back on the bench for a few games. I've found this puzzling and I guess it hasn't done much for his confidence as when he has come back in has dropped and it has taken him a couple of games to get back to that performance level. As you say we don't know what he was doing in training but I think being in and out of the team has certainly affected him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can definitely see that argument. The question is whether he could have played well in repeated games - one explanation might be what Lecter has suggested about Andy having slow recovery times. Hopefully now he is fitter and the debate will become meaningless.

Certainly against Everton he was making better runs than he has before when I've watched him. Second half he was excellent at not letting Everton play out of defence too.

I dont know whether his recovery time had improved recently but it was something heard early on in the season

He looks much fitter to me, and has done for a couple of months now

I'm a tad disappointed he hasnt been getting more games

Its really interesting to hear Jones' comment that Carroll is putting in extra work. It shows hes putting the effort in to improve (might also back up the theory that he has to work to improve his recovery time) and it also debunks the suggestion that the lad doesnt show enough effort and commitment

You dont put in extra training sessions if you arent committed
