To be fair, it's not been easy for him playing so intermittently. Really impressive last night- as has been said, season coming to an end too soon for him.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think in a lot of ways that game was very instructive about Carroll - he was excellent and combined well with Suarez but on the flipside he didn't score from several good chances. I've been hugely impressed in recent weeks but we still need another striker in addition to him and Suarez.

Agree DWW, although I think more composure infront of goal will come with confidence- & getting himself more in the right places at the right times, so the pressure is less to convert each chance.

He has improved recently. Whether that's to do with:

1 - his realisation Newcie no longer love him,
2 - his intent to get to Poland/Ukraine with Engerland,
3 - the transfer window is nigh or
4 - that he needs to start paying off our faith

          I'm not sure.

            or,

5 - he's been learning a new system - or at least playing in one that wasn't set up to his strengths - was low on confidence and has played himself slowly in to form, because he's been in and out of the first team.

Why do we search for ulterior motives, when really, we just lacked patience?

Hes been very good for quite a few games

His improvement has been steady for months now

People dismissing this as only a recent event clearly havent been watching him

He's been playing well for months now. People are only just starting to notice.

We still need a someone who will get goals regularly, neither he or Suarez do.
                  We come not to play.

I think that's unfair as you can level that accusation at just about any striker in the world.

Its something Carroll has to work on imo

Hes starting to get into better positions and now he has to convert more of those chances

Until he does then hes going to be open to criticism

I think his all round game has been improving for a long long time and all thats been lacking is aggression to take him up a notch
i'd agree with that. Has been great to see him bounce defenders around past two games, and long may it continue. He has had a poor season overall there is no getting around that, but has shown improvement in desire and general play over the last few months and credit must be given for that.

Well done on the turnaround Andy Carroll.

Its not just about one game though is it? Obviously even good players miss chances but they have a weight of goals to fall back on as defence. Andy doesn't.

                              This is true unfortunately

One step at a time! His goal against Chelsea was brilliant. Let's go from there shall we?
