To be fair, it's not been easy for him playing so intermittently. Really impressive last night- as has been said, season coming to an end too soon for him.

I think in a lot of ways that game was very instructive about Carroll - he was excellent and combined well with Suarez but on the flipside he didn't score from several good chances. I've been hugely impressed in recent weeks but we still need another striker in addition to him and Suarez.Originally posted by rcasemore View Postrubbish. He was excellent last night and has been improving for quite some time.
Terrorised Chelseas back 4 all night, he showed excellent touch and awareness around him as well as being a complete beast with the physical side of things."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

He has improved recently. Whether that's to do with:
1 - his realisation Newcie no longer love him,
2 - his intent to get to Poland/Ukraine with Engerland,
3 - the transfer window is nigh or
4 - that he needs to start paying off our faith
I'm not sure.Last edited by ronanm; 09-05-12, 01:07 PM.Substance > Style

or,
5 - he's been learning a new system - or at least playing in one that wasn't set up to his strengths - was low on confidence and has played himself slowly in to form, because he's been in and out of the first team.
Why do we search for ulterior motives, when really, we just lacked patience?

Hes been very good for quite a few gamesOriginally posted by cream View PostHe's been fantastic these last two games, but yeah the timing is a bit unfortunate. Loads of questions still need answering and we ain't getting the answers until next season. Some people not wanting him to go to the euros, has Carroll himself got one eye the the euros???
His improvement has been steady for months now
People dismissing this as only a recent event clearly havent been watching himBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

We still need a someone who will get goals regularly, neither he or Suarez do.We come not to play.

Its something Carroll has to work on imoOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostI think that's unfair as you can level that accusation at just about any striker in the world.
Hes starting to get into better positions and now he has to convert more of those chances
Until he does then hes going to be open to criticismBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I think his all round game has been improving for a long long time and all thats been lacking is aggression to take him up a notch
i'd agree with that. Has been great to see him bounce defenders around past two games, and long may it continue. He has had a poor season overall there is no getting around that, but has shown improvement in desire and general play over the last few months and credit must be given for that.

Its not just about one game though is it? Obviously even good players miss chances but they have a weight of goals to fall back on as defence. Andy doesn't.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostI think that's unfair as you can level that accusation at just about any striker in the world."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
