Depends really, if the team plays better without him then he doesn't have to play him at all. We wouldn't trying to offload him if the owners were worried about the loss, this is Liverpool FC, not Carroll.

If he doesn't fit in the plans then what's the point keeping him ?

I don't think a loan move would he such a bad idea to the right club. A club in the cl who will use his strengths and put him in the shop window is probably the only route to us getting back at least half the fee, however unlikely. a loan to a lower team who expect him to save them is probably going to backfire and hammer his value further.

But there is no point in keeping him for the odd cup game or late sub. May as well take the hit now this summer than pay him for another year before taking a bigger hit.
