Because if he scores 30+ goals its hard to argue he doesn't fit the system? In fact it suggests he is at his best in it surely.Originally posted by Shanks View PostSo what's the point of having a player who doesn't fit into your system/style of play, regardless of how many goals he scores..
Are you saying Rodgers would change his methods to fit him in?
All hypothetical really..
Rodgers isn't an idiot, if he had a 30 goal stiker he'd simply find a way to adjust his system around him.. This problem doesn't exist unfortunately.Vive la France

They paid off the debts that were crippling our club, and gave the previous manager ~£40m + everything raised from sales in a 12 month period to spend. That's more than anyone else in the league barring the mega-rich clubs and at least level if not better than the clubs we can actually compete with (Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal) over the same period. What else are they supposed to do, they've not got unlimited funds but very few teams in football do. Its not (really) their fault Kenny and Commolli made such disastrous dealsOriginally posted by Mattimetal View Post
Wake up fellow supporters this has novice deal written all over it, and I'm wondering if FSG are willing to spend any cash... Where is the cash anyway?
No. The vast vast majority of clubs would love to have that amount to spend. Sure its peanuts when compared with City & Chelsea, or PSG, Madrid etc, but comparing with them is just silly. Look what Newcastle achieved last year by hardly spending anything, only a couple of years previous they weren't even in this division. Sure we're at a disadvantage compared to the big spenders, but FSG have still provided us with all the financial backing I think we can reasonably expect them to have.Originally posted by Mattimetal View PostAnd £30m is peanuts in today's football financial world, wouldn't you agree?I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.

They have been fairly supportive of the manager. It is not their fault we got saddled with Downing and Carroll at 70K - 80K salary.

FSG trusted Kenny & Comoli to spend the money they were given wisely but unfortunately they bought dross. FSG may be a little wary of trusting Rodgers with too much too soon & that's understandable IMO. If he invests wisely this TW he'll probably get a bigger war chest next time round. Hopefully our scouts can come up with some bargains & the odd big name signing to keep improving the starting X1.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Borini is bought with the money from Raul sale that was never spent.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThey have already bought us a player this summer without any covering sales.
You could make the same claim about Adam and Downing for that matter.Originally posted by Shanks View PostSo what's the point of having a player who doesn't fit into your system/style of play, regardless of how many goals he scores..

Both of them especially Downing did very little last year and yet they will be given the chance to try to fit the system that may not suitable for them and Big Andy is considered expendable in a hurry without any attempt so see if can cut it in Rodgers system.
If Rodgers wants to get rid of Carroll that's fine but he shouldn't stop there.
There are tons of players that we should just let go and be open about it.
Not just in Carroll's case.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I would like a pound for every time I read during last season that Carroll isn't worth £10 mill let alone the £35 we paid for him, Well to be fair he's proved that right, His efforts on the pitch prove he isn't worth anything near £35 mill, yes he had a better go at it towards the end of the season and scored on the Euro's but it's a fair comment to say he's not that good and no matter how many chances we give him I don't think he'll improve that much and can we really risk another poor year from him?
Therefore a new manager, a new regime, nows the time to act, the inflated transfer and wages are legacy problems not Rodgers. He has the chance to end it now for us and Carroll amicably. Carroll will have a new start elsewhere and Rodgers will begin a new Liverpool style with the type of players he actually wants.
