Therefore a new manager, a new regime, nows the time to act, the inflated transfer and wages are legacy problems not Rodgers. He has the chance to end it now for us and Carroll amicably. Carroll will have a new start elsewhere and Rodgers will begin a new Liverpool style with the type of players he actually wants.
As we are all aware it's not carrolls fault for the price. I defo was one of those fans that didn't really want him and not at the price we paid. But over the latter part of the season he started to look good and maybe worth part of the price we paid for him. IMO he should be given another season. No body knows if this new way of playing football will work or even if Rodgers will be in a job by Xmas. Give him a chance he might fit into this new system or the new system might not work and Rodgers will have to make changes.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

He was purchased for long term use so the 35m fee should be looked at his contribution over several seasons to maybe show good value wages aside. But in 18 months its always going to look like one of the most overpriced transfers of all time.

You could make the same claim about Adam and Downing for that matter.

Both of them especially Downing did very little last year and yet they will be given the chance to try to fit the system that may not suitable for them and Big Andy is considered expendable in a hurry without any attempt so see if can cut it in Rodgers system.

If Rodgers wants to get rid of Carroll that's fine but he shouldn't stop there.

There are tons of players that we should just let go and be open about it.

          Not just in Carroll's case.
OK, here is another way of looking at it.

Rodgers needs to generate sales to fund transfers. Carroll represents the most value he is likely to get. Adam, Downing, Aquilani and Cole combined would not generate as much income Carroll on his own. And who would buy them anyway? Getting them off the wage bill is a priority in my eyes. Getting the £20m for Carroll the higher priority.
          Oh I don't know.

If we dont use cole and aquilani they too should be taken off the wage bill. Combined 200k a week.

Latest is that we may take Ba + cash for Carroll.

That’s £7m off then, another ten to go.

I remember JH recounting the tale of when he heard about the club, and the sad position this great instituation found itself in....and the words he uttered when he realised he had to save us......."LIVER..Who!????"
See I think they should. Hicks and Gillett have shown us what bad owners look like. While I'm not doubting that FSG are in it for the money, they have approached things in a totally different way, and as things stand, I for one feel lucky that we have them in charge. There's more than 1 way for football owners to make money out of a club. Just look at all the dreadful owners involved in football. Cunts like Shinawatra, Whyte, the Glaziers, Romanov. We could do a lot, lot worse and I think we need to appreciate that.

Who knows how the whole Abramovich / Mansour thing will work out. What will happen to those clubs once those owners decide they've had enough? What happens if FFP carries more clout than these clubs expect? Our owners are trying to make us self-sufficient and that's exactly the right way to be doing things in my opinion. Even if it does mean we're at a disadvantage right now. Once we get back into the top 4, hopefully we'll be able to generate the funds needed to be extremely competitive. Obviously getting back into the top 4 is going to be a huge challenge and to do that we need the right people in charge, and for the owners to back the manager. To date, I think FSG have shown a willingness to do that.

As MrM said, our owners have given us more money to spend than anyone apart from City and Chelsea. The stadium issue isn't ideal but I accept that it's an incredibly complex situation. I don't mind waiting, so long as they make the 'right' decision.

All this talk about needing a superwealthy benefactor owner to compete... yes it would have been nice. But we were available for purchase for years (talking about under Moores and Parry as well as Hicks /Gillett) all in all. No one came in for us for one reason or another. Did we dodge a bullet with DIC? Who knows.

Sorry for going off topic. Andy Carroll then...
