I obviously don't like Hodgson and watching the FA squirm is always fun, but this is a nothing story that people are making a big deal out of.

The more interesting thing for me is who leaked it to the press, I thought there was a good team spirit and unity in the England dressing room, but it must have been someone in there who leaked it

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Conceptually, offence by proxy, or indirect offence to those not directly involved is possible. But I don't believe for one minute that the association of black lawyers bloke is offended in the slightest. His livelihood depends on his profile and his profile is achieved by finding ways to appear in the media. He is paid to think of ways to contrive offence into any situation possible and being an intelligent guy he always comes up with something and knows how to get a headline. And the media, particularly the bbc, who are treading on egg shells, give him every opportunity.

would hate to have to do an interview in this day and age, virtually anything said can be somehow associated with racism

        Keep this quiet

I remember when Gary Lineker said about Ian Wright....

Edit: Hmmm. This was supposed to be in response to the thought that England may win the WC.

True. I guess I mean in this instance where there is clearly no intent offence by proxy just doesn't work. It appears that in this instance Roy has made an 'error' in using an analogy using a monkey in the proximity of black players. It is ridiculous. Does that mean this story can only be told in the company of White people where no monkey/black person relationship can be inferred. In this instance it is those who are offended who are being racist by making an association that was not intended.

The whole thing is a farce which will no doubt sell a few papers. The entre point of the message about kicking racism out of football will be lost if the media make issues out of the wrong stories. It completely dilutes a serious point.

In a football dressing room at half time!?

Leaking of the actual story by a player to the press doesnt say much for team morale really

Also, if this player was really offended having taken it totally the wrong way, why the **** would his first port of call be the **** Rag!? and not Kick it out or even the Players union? or the FA even?

Why call the press?! Seems odd imo.

I'm beginning to wonder if the player even exists, or if the Rag got it from an after game party, or in the mingling area after overhearing players talking about it ? nothing is beyond that piece of ****ty rag!

Or there's a disgruntled cunt amongst them who isn't getting picked.

Yep. One disgruntled cunt could ruin the whole thing

Whatever way though, its still a long winded way to tell someone at half time to pass the ball to a player. Even Stan Collymore said it
