But Gerrard's England captain ....he's the first name on the sheet.
Having been so sterile and such a predictable side for so long, I think England are *potentially* interesting again. Obviously with him at the helm it will make them very predictable and stodgy, but there is potential for them to have a quite a progressive, young and dynamic first XI.
Is there another Nation in the world who cares as much as us about the Captain. I honestly couldn't name another international captain apart from maybe Agger. But that's only because he is one of ours.

Possibly some Spanish bloke is saying the exact same thing right now. "Except Messi/Ronaldo, and only because he's one of ours".
Yeah he has amazed many by trying a rudimentary version of a 4-2-3-1 with England....which basically amounts to 4-5-1.
All his teams eventually collapse into an 8-1-1 or 9-0-1 in the end so the starting formation is really of little interest to anyone.
I think Gerrard has deserved his place in the England team of late but in the deep role he is going to be a significant problem in the hotter stadia IMO.

Hodgson suggests practising penalties without facing a goalkeeper. It's innovative, but it's not quite replicating the matchday situation
