I think the opposite - the reason Henderson is even questionable is that he is the type of player whose game is based around running around. In the heat we'll be ****ed if we play a traditional English game and will need possession hoarders like Carrick in the team/squad.

Personally I think Henderson has shown his adaptability enough to contribute in a variety of plans. Obviously Hodgson will have a more hoof based approach than most other managers in the circumstances and might in fact favour Henderson over other long shots like Johnson in midfield.

Whilst I wish Gerrard every success, England are not going to win the World Cup. The next best thing is for Roy Hodgson to be shown to be the inept, fraudulent dinosaur that he is, with the added bonus of this being highlighted to the entire footballing world on the grandest of stages.

I can't speak for Shaggy - or others with a similar line of thinking - but the level of passion I have for Liverpool doesn't even register for our national team. I'm a bit of a hypocrite, because I'll be using England's World Cup games to have a few beers and cheer them on, but a Liverpool defeat will last a day or two - an England defeat will be dealt with by the next sip of my beverage.

Oh, and did I say I want England to lose because Roy Hodgson is a massive weapon?

I dont really get why Hodgson would want to take Gerrard, Cole, Jagielka, Lampard and all those older players.

As mentioned by Mudds, we aren't going to win the thing. So we may as well blood some youngsters and see if they can make a name for themselves.

Henderson, Sterling and Sturridge all have a chance to cement England places this summer, but I dont think they will get the chance too because of the older lads holding onto their places (I do include Gerrard in this)

FWIW I think a Midfield of Lallana, Wilshire and Henderson is a trio that can hold down our midfield for the next 10 years or so. Be stupid not to put it in place now.

But Gerrard's England captain ....he's the first name on the sheet.

Having been so sterile and such a predictable side for so long, I think England are *potentially* interesting again. Obviously with him at the helm it will make them very predictable and stodgy, but there is potential for them to have a quite a progressive, young and dynamic first XI.

I'm asking it again. Does Hodgson ever play with 3 in midfield? As far as I know he's a strict advocate of a rigid 4-4-2.
                  Are we winning?

I'm pretty certain he's 'progressed tactically' to a 4-5-1 with three central midfielders and two attackers who make a five when we are defending. We still play eight across the 18 yard line though.

Yeah he has amazed many by trying a rudimentary version of a 4-2-3-1 with England....which basically amounts to 4-5-1.

So all the attributes that Henderson, Llallana and Sturridge have will probably be stifled in his system.

Well that's obvious, I said in my initial post that it'll be fun watching Hodgson **** up all the potential he has at his fingertips. He's already managed to make Sturridge look average in an England shirt.

is Lallana a one season wonder at this level or the real deal, surely one of the big clubs will be after him in the summer for £25m plus

I saw Sky plugging that yesterday. If I'm bored and curiousity kicks in, I might sneak a peak.
