agreed, Dave. i think we are probably trying to get a better deal sorted, but even if we had to shell out the full asking, for what he would bring, i think he would make the team stronger, score more goals, make us harder to beat, etc...

Yeah I know Matt, the stats don't tell the whole story, and they're not transferable to a new club - Comolli and Kenny's whole recruitment drive proves that.

Still, beating him with a stat stick seems a bit unfair when he's scored a lot of goals for a middling club.

No, I was referring to his *whole* career, not just the years he's played for Fulham. The 'thrice' comment included one season in the MLS when he scored 11 in a season, so I could have said he's scored double figures twice in his Premiership career, which yes, is six years.

Yup, his numbers have increased as he's reached his peak, which could (or could not) be the season just gone. It could be argued players enjoy their finest years between 27 and 29, hence my 'natural decline' comment.
