About the same price of what we paid for Drowning and he refused to play for us all last season and I am still pretty pissed about that.

I don't even know what the first side to the story is?

There's nothing to stop him leaving really (although I'm sure his registration rights would have to be sorted out legally in order for him to turn out for a new side)......................all he has to is negotiate with his club and buy out his contract seeing as he's the one who wants to force the move. (I know there's more to it than that, but that is the essentials)

No doubt that solution hasn't entered Clint's thinking........typical modern footballer - only sees the amount of k's per week when signing his big fat contract, not the obligation required on his part.
            ******s, the lot of 'em.

Sob story from his side will be coming in no doubt, but if everything is black and white, he's refusing to come into work.

You can't compare the two at all, though I hear your argument from loads of people.

If another company came to me and offered me a bit more money I would go because:

              A) I earn an average wage and struggle to get the bills paid like most of us with average incomes.
              B) My current company didn't pay me a signing on fee of several million pounds.
              C) I haven't signed a contract to be here for 5 years.

If A big competitor asked me to join them I would do what most people I know will/have done...as follows

Find out what noticed period is...for example say 2 weeks
Then find out have many days hoilday I have...say I have 2 weeks left.
Then agree a contract with competitor to start in 3 weeks time
In the mean time. Book 2 weeks hoilday off and get confirmation.
Then hand in 2 weeks notice in to current employers.

I would still continue to work as that is part of my contract with my employers. Not go on strike..

Does that answer what I would do..

Yes that's fine. What if Fulham aren't letting him do that. We don't know the whole story.

I was told that Clinton Dempsey was coming to Liverpool. His agent was the same agent as my source. He has obviously been approached and agreed that he wants to come to us. As usual there is many a slip twixt cup and lip but I have not been told that the deal is dead. Be hopeful. It should happen if Fulham don't overprice the value and dig their heels in.

I'm not sure..correct me if I am wrong. But he has asked to leave we know that much..but has he actually handed in a transfer request? Usually handing in a transfer request allows for a swift resolution when players want to leave.

Its what Jol has said, surely...

This is not aimed at anyone in particular but is it ok for a club (us) to force out a player (Agger) & encourage bids but it's not the same if a player wants to move on to a bigger, more competitive club. Isn't it the same contract that were talking about?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I can't understand the expectation from Jol that we should make an offer for Dempsey just because Rodgers said he is a good player.

Maybe if he'd just said he was a 'triffic player' there'd be none of this fuss.

It's all about player power these days. If in your form of employment you were given all the cards, you'd make full use if it too.

The only difference between footballers and other forms of employment, are that a company they work for has lots of people who place so much emotion and caring into the outcome of their work.
                              Forwards.......

In my opinion every player should honour a contract however long it is as a matter of respect to the club, the manager, the owners and most of all the fans.

Once the contract has run it's course then negotiate another one with the same club or sign for a new club, either that or contracts should be rolling yearly contracts or 2 year contracts.

There is no respect or loyalty in the game anymore, we've see this kind of **** year in year out and it destroys clubs and makes everyone go in a negative mood and start hating the game.

                                That's just my opinion.
