He looks a bit like Baron Greenback.

    Oh I don't know.

Probably because the website is called arseblog. Sounds quite rude.

Have no fear Sir Chips Keswick will resolve the situation

I doubt this is a surprise to anyone at Arsenal. Presumably that's why they've already signed Podolski and Giroud.

I wouldnt be surprised if they'd asked Van Persie to hold off on the announcement until they'd signed replacements to try and keep the prices sensible. We saw with Carroll what happens when clubs know you have cash and need a replacement.

How much can they really get for RVP, a player with one season left on his contract and someone that's already publically stated he wont be signing a new one ?

I suppose that certain clubs are willing to pay a premium regardless of the time he has left on his contract, if it means they sign him before one of their rivals.

It *kinda* links in to the gist of this thread:

                    Net Spending: Last Five Seasons.

                    1/ Man City £382.2m
                    2/ Chelsea £190.7m
                    3/ Stoke £60.1m
                    4/ Aston Villa £50.6m
                    5/ Man Utd £36.6m
                    ----------------------
                    7/ Liverpool £26.8m
                    12/ Norwich £7m
                    14/ Spurs £6m
                    15/ Swansea £4.6m
                    19/ Arsenal £-21.3m

I've copied this from Sky, who I think copied it from TransferLeague, so I have no idea about the top 20, but I thought it ties in with Arsenal who are spending less and shows the gulf between Man City and Chelsea (doubled) and Chelsea and Stoke (trebled).

Villa and Stoke's net spend over the last five seasons is greater than ours?!

I know H&G ruined us, but I didn't think we'd have spent less (net) than Villa and Stoke.

Juventus have made an improved offer for RVP of £12million

Torres sale I reckon is a big factor in that, our biggest signings where pretty much paid for by that. The money for Alonso and Masch too.

                            Oh without a doubt mate.

I think I'm more shocked at the net spend of Villa and Stoke tbh. I knew our net spend wasn't going to be massive.

                            Stoke and Villa ffs.

According to Wiki (I know), van Persie is currently the longest serving foreign player in the PL.

He is currently the longest serving foreign player in the Premier League.
I've had a damn good think and to be honest I can't think of any current foreigner who has played here longer than he has.

Must be some random fullback who has been playing in the PL for the last ten years? Surely.
