I think his finishing last season made him look worse than what he actually can deliver but even if he does improve next season we can't rely on a number 7 to get all our goals. A quick analysis of our attacking options in regards to goal scoring makes grim reading.

Suarez - Our best player but his finishing is suspect

Carroll - Not good enough to be our number 9 and IMO he never will be

Gerrard - Legend and still a good player who is clearly declining, spent most of the last 2 seasons out injured. Not reliable anymore I'm afraid

Bellamy - Good squad player who does contribute goals but can't start 2 games in a row due to dodgy knees

Maxi - Tidy player who scores goals but he seems to be on the way out this summer

Downing - ****e

Adam - Found his level at Blackpool

Henderson - Ghost of a player

Sterling - Not ready to be starting PL games just yet

Pacheco - Unknown quantity

IMO we need at least 2 quality attacking players this summer who will go straight into the starting 11.

Suso, Stirling and Texiera along with Gerrard, Henderson, Maxi and Aquilani (not at the same time mind) would be a great mix of youth, experience, goal threat and intelligence.

Texeira hasn't even played a minute for the reserves, let's not get ahead of ourselves there. Personally I hope we'll get to see N'Goo occasionally, I think he's made quite a progress last year, and he looks physically capable of handling senior level football.

I know he's not that type of player, we don't really need that type of player, we just need a quality attacking midfielder who can break down defences and create for others. He's exactly that.

And I really don't think we need a starting calibre striker at all, we need to give Carroll/Suarez a fair chance as a partnership.

Pretty much but he can play as a second striker and also likes to gravitate to the wide right so he can give us the versatility we need.

Young talented player but the fee mentioned is too high. The problem is that Bologna only owns 70% of his rights so they are trying to push the price as high as possible.

He shouldn't be automatic choice. He should fight for his place in the lineup and if Rodgers is anything like he sounds then most of our boys will need to put in tons and tons of effort to get a chance to be a part of the squad don't mind the first 11.
