Personally it is way too harsh to give up on him yet.

Not only he has been injured for long time he also wasn't used in his preferred position when he was given chance to play.

I thought his movement today was good, he freed up the space for Suarez and helped him score and his backheel pass to Sterling were good too but he should have done better when he had the chance to score early in the second half.

The problem is that he doesn't have enough touches and imo he'll struggle unless that changes.

He badly needs a goal and I wish BR doesn't sub him so early in the second half as he has been doing regularly as that cannot help his confidence.

Yep, agree it is too harsh to give up on him now.

As for his preferred position though, if he isn't playing there now I don't know he ever will be for us. BR seems to have others ideas on how to use him. There's obviously something behind that but I don't see it at the moment. To me his assets don't suit being one of the wide forwards.

I hope that he's not another good player, but just not for us. We've had too many of those over y the last few years. Unfortunately, the concept of"'Liverpool player" still holds and thats why it's still used by fans all the time.

Did this 21 year old who is 3 games back from a 4 month lay off not play well?

About sums it up for me. Looks wildly overpriced too.

Terrible signing, has almost nothing about his game other than "terrific movement", but he can't back up that movement with anything productive so whats the point? No pace, no skill, no tricks, and seemingly, no goals. Garbage.

Come off it. He isnt that bad. He needs confidence clearly. But Id give him more time than he has had so far. Not every player will hit the ground running. He scored a few for Roma, so I can only assume he knows where the goal is.

I think Ill wait until next season before giving a judgement. I just cant stop thinking about the players who go great guns the second season.

That being said he shouldn't be starting in the league at the moment.

Problem is he scored his goals at Roma from a central position. I imagine he's a handy centre forward, but he's never gonna play there for us. A strange signing really, if you forget the 'comfort' aspect of it. We had Suarez, apparently Rodgers was looking at Sturridge in the summer and also had Dempsey in mind. Rodgers has said Borini can "do a job out wide but he's better through the middle" - but if he's never gonna play there what's the point?

I think he's pretty bad. I could give him more time, but I wonder what attributes he's got that would mean he's capable of playing at the top level?

                    Pace? Nope.
Can he beat a man? Nope.
                    Good movement? Yes.
                    Work rate? Yes.
                    Finishing? No idea.

I expect more than that for £11m I really do.

You're right the jury is still out, but early signs are not good. You can see instantly the quality that Sturridge has. Unfortunately you can see instantly that Borini has almost none of those same qualities.

I fear the worst for him, I really do. Let's just hope he gets the odd goal coming on as a sub, and improves from there, but it seems a real waste of money so far

I really don't understand the abuse Allen gets but this guy on the other hand looks seriously cack. The first footballer who's better without the ball.

It's great to see the legendary patience from LFC fans being employed with a 21 year old 3 games back in from a 4 month lay off!

Any idea how many reserve games he played before yesterday ?

Or don't we do that now with players coming back from injury, imo they should have a number of games to show they are ready.

I'd only heard one, maybe two?

Well I'm judging him off what I think he's actually capable of. I don't think he has enough of the attributes needed to succeed here. He's clearly not suited to playing out wide, and I don't think he'll ever be good enough to play up top either. If he's happy to be a substitute and wait for his chances up front then fair enough, he might make a decent squad player, but I can't help but feel that for £11m this transfer will turn out to be a mistake.
