If he was fit I'd have been critical of him for yesterday's performance. As he's not, he deserves to be given time.

He was a reserve at Roma, so to expect him to come here and be amazing from the get go was foolish. He clearly has potential and I think he will deliver in time.

I guess the only issue is why we spent £10m on a player not yet good enough for the team, when we clearly needed to improve our first XI.

I think by the seasons end he'll be showing enough to be thought of as a good enough sub/ starter in lesser games. Which is exactly what he should be at present.

i am a bit of a pessimist as football fan, i admit that, i always look for and expect the worst, so when it happens i'm half way there to accepting it already

however i like to think i can be fair and objective and i look at our squad and there is some dross there, but i can usually find something, some arguement as to why they are here/why they were signed/ or what they might do

People will slag off Coates, and he does look like a big clueless blurt, but i can see why we signed him, he was a big centre half with a bit of international experience and offered something different to the three other centre halfs, and there has been the odd moments/flashes where it looks like there is a decent centre half in there somewhere...unfortunatley those flashes are usually thrown out the window when he produces a howler, but still they are there.

i've seen people slate young robinson! ****ing hell, thats harsh, but that said he has come on a couple times previously and he's done ok,

henderson - gets slated and has had some howlers, but he has also showed glimpes that he might actually turn out to be a good midfielder, shelvey the same.

Even downing whilst i think we got ripped off, i can 'see' why we want for him - we needed a left sided wide player desperatley, there was **** all around that we could sign and he had a couple of decent seasons with villa - and there has been a few glimpes in a red shirt where has looked good

but borini, for me personally, whilst i am not writing him off and will give him time and hope he succeeds, i've not seen anything in his make up(either physical or mental) to suggest he will turn out good
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

You don't get picked in the Italian Euro's squad if you have no class. Clearly he has it, he just hasn't shown it as yet. But he's a young lad. He's been all over the place and had no settled spell and seems to get injured at the same time every season.

        Give him time.

          One plus for Fabio.

He is a very willing worker who will give his all on the pitch and in training. He has the right mentality to succeed and is an ambitious player.

I believe he will succeed because of the above. He has talent, and as always, if you apply yourself with talent, you will in time be a success. Same goes for Joe Allen.

with borini i just don't see anything in him - he's bang average. I admittley didn't know much about him when we signed him as i'd never heard of him, don't remember him doing anything when he was at swansea.

So we sign him, what was it £10m and then rodgers comes out with he is a beast of player, physical etc and some other ****.

But he offers zero pace, seems very lightweight, doesn't look like he can finish his tea, i just don't see what he offers.

Now granted, it's early days etc - but i'd still expect to see a glimpse of something after a dozen games or so.

Carrol, we can slag him off all we want but at least it was clear what he offered us, a big target man up front.

Joe Allen seems to be public enemy no.1 at the moment (and i admit he is ****ing me off too) but at least there has been signs at times that he understands and can play the game

                    Why not.

I just think it was a safe purchase and Rodgers rushed into it.

i also don't see this hard work rate either - before his injury, i seem to remember getting hauled off a couple of times cause he just wasn't in the game

doesn't matter how **** you are playing, if you are working your bollocks off you will at least be 'in the game'

Now whilst i can agree, that it maybe down to being played out of position a bit. but i clearly remember arsenal at home, Borini playing right sided attack, and he switched off all the time allowing kieran gibbs, to literally just walk away from him over the half way line into space, an with gibb's pace, once the ball came to him he was away and in space, and i am sure we conceded a goal from one such instance. - I remember it because it was kop end that arsenal where attacking, and i was in our season ticket on the centenary which meant borini as a right mid was along our line - so we could see it happening right in front of us

now granted, you can give borini some benefit of the doubt by saying, he is not used to being a 'right attacker' so doesn't usually have to track full backs

but for a player whose main attribute is meant to be work rate, it's pretty poor how often he switched off

Anyone who says they haven't formed an opinion on him already is lying. I haven't written him off, I'm just saying early signs are not good and I wish we'd spent the £11m on someone better suited. Sturridge for instance should have been signed way before he was.

Use him as a clean swap with T. Ince - would benefit the team.....A LOT!!

Borini is a very fast runner? thats probably the best thing going for him, well it would be if he improves his touch.
