    So long Fabio
After struggling with form and injuries in his first season back in English football, Fabio Borini had little choice but to move to Sunderland on loan in an attempt to find the playing time that never seemed likely to materialise at Liverpool behind the on-form Daniel Sturridge and with Luis Suarez waiting in the wings.

To hear Borini's agent speak, though, the player would have been better off never even leaving Roma in the first place. Given the £10.5M fee Liverpool paid for him, the club might be starting to think the exact same thing, even if all involved will be hoping Borini can use his time with Paolo Di Canio to rediscover his scoring touch.

"I think Fabio would have been the ideal player for Zeman last year," said Marco De Marchi in an interview with Radio Mana Mana. "But the decision to leave Roma was made on both sides. Everything was concluded very quickly, without a chance for us to talk to the [new] coach. Having said that I still believe Roma was the best team possible for Fabio."

At the time of his sale, Zdenek Zeman had just arrived at Roma, though the Czech manager has since been replaced by Rudi Garcia after a controversial series of benchings—including of vice captain Daniele De Rossi—led to slumping form and fan unrest. One does have to wonder, in those circumstances, if Borini's career really would have best served by sticking around.link

          We'll see.

Let him play a streak of games first and then judge him.

He hasn't played enough to form a proper opinion one way or another.

I can't see how he is any worse than Aspas. He's younger as well, has good movement and was pretty unlucky with injuries.

I get the impression that he was a phase one signing though. I don't know if he will actually come back.

Not a chance that he will play for us again after what his agent said IMO and I also think that the player and his agent is the main reason to why he was loaned out, to get rid of a player that may been a problem.

I also think that the agent and the player started to put pressure on the club months ago and that is the reason to why we signed up the same type of player, Aspas.

Every manager's first signing is less than good.

Still, I think Borini would have been a good option for us this season from the bench.

Borini already know Rodgers system, Aspas need time to learn it.

I would really like to know why we replaced Borini with Aspas but we will probably never know the truth.

As an Italian international he can't be that bad, though I thought the same of Dossena.

Personally you cannot and should not compare those 2 as they are completely 2 different types of players and Aspas was not brought in as a replacement for Borini.

BR was given limited amount of funds to fill in more then a few positions and on that basis he went for a player that he was familiar with coz at that time we didn't have any scouting network either.

In retrospect he may never be good enough for us but I can see why BR did what he did in given circumstances.

However he has also been unlucky with injuries...some game time and I'm sure he will be a valuable squaddie...

i wouldnt want to see him getting game time with us unless he really takes his chance to shine at sunderland. to come back here and try and get some form will mean we are playing with an under strength side as he has always failed to deliver. unless he is showing he is a lethal striker then there is no place for him.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
