He wants to leave to get games... doubt he would want to join us as he'd be straight on the bench.Originally posted by Daffy Duck View PostIn light of recent 3rd/4th striker discussions, would anyone consider Demba Ba for less than £5m? He recently said he's leaving at the end of the season, although to be honest I don't know anything about his wages or recent injury record.
Can be a very effective player... fully fit he is a handful & would be a brilliant squad option.

Could Rodgers pull off masterstroke with unpopular transfer?
Brendan Rodgers could do a lot worse than offering a player a way back to Anfield this summer.
Brendan Rodgers may well choose to sign an extra forward this summer and he may even consider an unpopular decision with the majority of Liverpool fans.
Any forward Rodgers signs will need to tick several boxes as the Reds prepare for a season back in the Champions League; experience, accepting of his position in the squad and someone with a point to prove.
Step in the striker the club sold to Chelsea for £50 million; Fernando Torres.
Liverpool have moved on from when Torres was at his very best during his first spell at Anfield, but he ticks a lot of the boxes Rodgers will be looking for and the boss could be the very man to get the most out of the Spaniard before he retires or moves on again.
Torres, would fully accept that he wouldn’t be first choice ahead of either Daniel Sturridge or Luis Suarez.
He’s nothing like the forward he was during that first spell but he’d have a point to prove because any Liverpool return would be controversial because of how he left the club.
Rodgers would be good for him because the boss has proven himself to be possibly the best coach in terms of man management in the Premier League.
Rodgers took players who were underperforming against their quality and potential and turned them into top quality players who have been instrumental in the club’s title bid.
The best examples are Jordan Henderson, previously linked with an Anfield exit, and Jon Flanagan, someone Rodgers plucked from the Liverpool youth system and turned into arguably the best full back in the division.
Look what he did for Daniel Sturridge, a player who underperformed at Chelsea and someone Rodgers has made into the best striker in England and one of the most prolific signings the club has ever made, albeit in his short Anfield career.
Not to mention the top class, England worthy winger he’s created in Raheem Sterling.
So what could Rodgers do for Torres because he’s hardly an underdeveloped, young or naïve player.
He could give him belief, the belief that he can still play an important role over the rest of his career.
The current Liverpool side is also well setup to get more out Torres as he is now as opposed to how he was before.
He doesn’t have that burst of pace to get the better of defenders but Liverpool have pace all over their team, which creates the movement and the space which Torres is currently incapable of producing himself.
The Reds aren’t going to have tens of millions to spend in the summer, they aren’t going to be able to compete for the best strikers and the higher profile they go, the more damaging it’s going to be for SAS with egotistical players likely to expect to start ahead of Sturridge and Suarez.
Deep down, Torres knows it was probably a mistake to leave Liverpool and with his Chelsea career in pieces, why not offer him a lifeline as a cost effective option in attack next season, rotating with Iago Aspas or Fabio Borini.
Is Torres a decent squad option for Liverpool next season?

He's ****, but that's exactly the sort of person we should go for, ie a formerly **** hot striker that's lost his way somewhat and therefore both keen to impress and be understanding of not being an automatic 1st teamer
That or a young player willing to be on the bench for a team like Liverpool, when he might otherwise start somewhere else - Luc Castaignos or someone of that ilkLast edited by Fierce; 11-04-14, 05:59 PM.I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I may have got this wrong but IIRC he has some chronic injury (knee?) which means he would struggle to pass a medical.Originally posted by Daffy Duck View PostIn light of recent 3rd/4th striker discussions, would anyone consider Demba Ba for less than £5m? Don't suppose it mattered to Chavski because £7m or whatever they paid would be small change but I should imagine it would be quite a big factor for us.
