"He is being assessed now for his shoulder injury," Sunderland boss Gus Poyet said during a pre-season training camp in Portugal. "That's stopped everything a little bit.

"We will see. I have not held talks with him, but the club has, although that's private. We know where we stand."

He is on the bottom of packing order when it comes to us and BR clearly doesn't rate as much as he did while with Swansea as we did except an offer from SAFC so I don't understand his motivation to force the stay with us.

If he wants to increase the chances of playing for Italy, which apparently is very important to him, and prove himself as a footballer he is so much better off to go to Sunderland and player regular football in top league as his playing opportunities with us would be minimal bar some unexpected injuries.

We know that but I'm not sure it's occurred to him yet.

He reminds me of Nickolas Bentdner (sp) I'm sure he thought he was better than henry at the time.... Fabio probably thinks he can do a job
I make no apologies, this is me

Personal terms also seem to be an issue.

Move would be the best for both parties but I understand his unwillingness at this point in time.

Would rather we kept borini than bought bony. Although id rather we got 14 mil and spent it on a better player than wilfried

                    Same here.

I hope it doesn't get to that and we do sell him and buy a much better player than Bony.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

£14m for Borini will be a fantastic piece of business if it finally comes off, if we blow that and more on Bony it will all be for nothing

borini tries hard and we cant question his commitment but he doesnt have enough quality to get into our team. he cant lead the line because he's not strong enough and he wont get into the team ahead of sterling, lallana, coutinho or markovic.

sunderland is probably about his level.

SUNDERLAND will learn within the next 48 hours if Fabio Borini will be returning to the Stadium of Light after further discussions with the Liverpool forward.

The Black Cats returned from a ten-day pre-season trip to Portugal last night and expect to know if the £14m deal, which has been on the table for weeks, will go-ahead very soon.

I thought this was still going to go ahead, but I've changed my mind now. I think he'll stay

Just read the article and Poyet's quotes and he does actually seem pretty confident the deal will go ahead.

                                I know think he'll go.

If I change my mind again I will let you all know immediately
