But City already have their token english speed merchant in Sinclair. Can't see Walcott fitting in a City tbh. Can't see us signing him mind.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

We need a top quality striker, as best as we can get and afford. I would much prefer we spent all our budget this window on that position rather than trying to be too clever and sign 3 or 4 cheaper players who are on the same level as say Assaidi. We need better than that right now.
I said that in my post that any signing is a risk so you repeated what I said. While I agree we need a quality striker, I believe there is quality around for low prices. Look at Newcastle. They have got bargains who have improved their team considerably. In fact I feel if it wasn't for lack of squad depth they would be competing for the top 4 every year with a few more decent signings. We should be intelligent about our transfer activity from now on.

I like the sounds of this '8 figure war chest for the winter window'

          Thats anything from £10-99 million!!!

Why would he go to City? He would never play.

I think this is all brinksmanship over a new contract, and he'll end up staying at Arsenal.

Sorry mate I must be going blind. Didn't see that in your post about 'any' signing being a risk. I assume you just want us to spend less and be clever thus minimising our risk.

Fair enough, but if you sign proven players at the high end bracket in terms of cost (like Suarez for example), then the risk is reduced. IMO.

Its all down to staying at Arsenal for another 6 months or coming to us (i.e. him forcing Arsenal's hand). We are the only team who can afford his salary and have such a great opening up front for him.

City, manure, Chelsea, Madrid, whomever, can come in with silly bids to ruin our chances but his heart is set on playing up front. Therefore I'm confident he'll knock them all back. Unless he's stupid like Sean Wright Phillips then we'll be lucky to have avoided a stupid player. But I don't think he is stupid.

Means nothing I'm afraid. How many premiership players support the team they play for, I mean really support not ala Robbie Keane

That's not bad really is it. Is it very good? For someone played on the wing, and from such an early age... but in a good team... yeah, it probably is really.

Not sure its £100k/week good though.
It's more impressive when you look at his development. His end produc was poor in his first few seasons at Arsenal, but in the past couple of seasons he's got into double figures for assists and goals - and that's from a wide position, when he's not been playing regularly. His stats are superb.

He'd be pretty perfect for us right now.

****, imagine FSG pulled the stops out and we bought Llorente, Walcott and Holtby. All on bosmans in the summer, so could all be available at reasonable prices this january. 10 million for Walcott, say 15 for Llorente and 8 for Holtby - which would make it £33 mil (at the very most). Maybe FSG could be persuaded to give Rodgers next summers budget early!

I agree it doesn't mean much, but it can't hurt

surprised by how good walcotts stats are. but there have been many games were arsenal have put lower teams to the sword in a big way, often scoring five or more. this will inflate his stats. i know those goals still need to be scored but they often come against teams who have already given up...
the same could be said for his assists. he has been putting the ball into decent strikers. how would his stats look if he was continually crossing into our empty box, with suarez pissing a large percentage of them away
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
