Yep, was fine. We controlled midfield pretty much the whole game, he even got forward well a few times in the first half. Not to mention it was his first game in 6 weeks.

Had a poor opening 10-15 mins, gifting possession, then settled into the game and thus, became part of the general malaise that ran through the performance that consisted entirely of the attacking lads overplaying and wasting anything that approached a chance.
Not the worst out there, but didn't do anything either against far inferior opposition. So it was very much a 'Joe Allen' performance, if there is such a thing.

I'd add, that in no way do I blame Allen for the draw today. But him and Borini were an awful waste of money.

Midfield looked flat and lifeless in the first half like it always does when he plays. Bolton mauled him in those first 20 minutes, bullied him - its not funny anymore, he adds nothing. His game is anodyne, sterile and horizontal.

Agreed. Looks lightweight against any midfield with a bit of a physical presence. Fair enough him coming in initially after Brendan but he should have been offloaded in the summer for an upgrade using some of that Suarez money.
