Loan deals only IIRC although I think there was a story about Anderlecht being interested in buying.

Chang would have no influence on transfers. Whoever came up with that idea was delusional.

In all likelihood, it was a committee decision, Rodgers went along with it as it represented a low risk investment, even though he wasn't entirely convinced.

Seems pretty strange this transfer to be honest why would a committee make a decision on a transfer and the manager says "ok let's give it a go" but anyways I do like him very good at running at opposition with the ball at his feet .I recon a full season in league 1 will toughen him right up ,and hopefully can make another go here but we will see.

Personally I think people over rate this guy on the basis of a few youtube vids of him against poor teams in Holland, he isn't awful but from the little we have actually seen of him since he signed, no way is he the standard required of a regular starter in the top half of the Prem.

You are seriously telling me we signed "the best player in Holland" for £2.4m? And that, after having not worked out with us, the mighty Anderlecht and QPR have been battling for him on loan? Seriously, we've all seen him play, there are quite flagrantly better players in the Dutch league. I totally accept that he had a decent rep and was thought of as pretty decent in Holland, but seriously lets not exaggerate past that eh?

Your response was absolute hence why I am geniunely asking if you watch the Dutch league, If not, then anyone can go on Wikipedia and see who won player of the year in whatever country which isn't always neccesarily a good measure of who the best player was. For example, Bale won it last season based on 3 months of top form. Giggs once won it and he only had started 12 games or something!

In terms of the quotes of him being the best player (it may have said one of), somebody posted them in the Assaidi thread when we signed him. I think it might have been Shaggy or someone. I can't be arsed digging them out. But the fact he nearly signed for Ajax is saying something. Also he was rated higher than Narsingh (they played in the same Heerenveen team) which shows how highly he was regarded in Holland.

Also the figure we paid for him would have been at least double - he was entering into the final year of his contract. And Heernveen sell players on the cheap all the time. They got rid of Narsingh for less than 4m euros.
