Thanjk you.

I actually hope that our deal for Assaidi was part of some money laundering/siphoning scheme or something, because at least it would have made some sort of sense.
Baffling.

Is it really that unusual that a club brings in a player for a problem role (tricky winger) and then finds out that he isn't as good/suited to teh league as initially thought?

What is unusual is the fact he wasn't moved on before now, even on loan, because he wasn't kept on even as backup as evidenced by his near total lack of minutes to determine if he is suited to this league, regardless of how he was viewed before his move.
Clear case of a non-Rodgers signing IMO (which obviously isn't that clear as only the club hierarchy can attest )

Surely you require someone else to be interested in him and willing to pay a good amount? Also it may have been that Rodgers or someone else at the club thought that training (weights or whatever) might help him improve or adapt.

Thing is, if we were in any way interested in developing his career at this club, we could have facilitated a loan even to a championship side just to get him moving, if a sale wasn't feasible. I'd imagine he knows exactly where he figures in Rodgers' plans, so he might not have been adverse to a step down temporarily, if he isn't in fact holding on for that permanent move back to Holland.
To his credit, you never hear any **** from him, and he's showing up for training and, when required, the bench, so we can only guess at reasons for why he's not making the grade or the right impression.

Stoke City have this afternoon completed the signing of Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi on a season-long loan.
The 25 year-old Moroccan international completed a successful medical this morning before shaking hands on the deal.
His arrival inevitably casts questions marks over Stoke's interest in QPR winger Junior Hoilett.
It also raises the possibility that Michael Kightly is available as Stoke now have five frontline wingers currently at their disposal.
Assaidi made his name in Holland with De Graafschap and then Heerenveen before moving to Liverpool last summer for a fee believed to be just over £2m
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hailed him as an exciting talent who would delight the fans.
But Assaidi has been restricted to just a handful of appearances over the last 12 months after falling behind Raheem Sterling, Suso and Stewart Downing (before his recent departure to West Ham) in the Anfield pecking order out wide.
This is probably the first time that I have no clue what a senior LFC player is like, even after being at the club for a year I'm dying to see, think I might watch some Stoke matches this season.
