Johan Cruyff is probably turning in his grave.

    And he's not even dead.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Did he do a Cruyff turn?

Surely that point shows how easy it is to be named Dutch footballer of the year.... and Assaidi wasn't

I do remember some people apparently rating him when we bought him, but you can find a rent-a-gob with a nonsense opinion for almost anything. I am absolutely sure I can't remember anyone saying they thought he was a perfect fit for this league and a potential superstar though, just that he apparently had a great attitude and trained hard. Ultimately he was a complete unknown to everyone when we signed him, so people jumped on a few decent quotes and a couple of youtube vids and made more of him than was actually there.

Rodgers is not stupid, nor does he have an issue with small tricky wingers, having given Sterling etc lots of pitch time. He's not seen much from this guy obviously, neither have we, neither have any other top or even mid-range clubs who could have picked him up this summer for a pittance & on non-prohibitive wages. As I said before, I'm not saying he's terrible. But this "best player in Holland" thing, said as if he should have been a real force with us, is quite logically and obviously a major exaggeration.

Watched the second half against Valengra again keeping any eye on Assaidi. He played exactly to form. Some moments of promise, dominated by large periods of inactivity. It was hard trying to remember he was on the pitch at times, even though I was 'keeping an eye on him'.

However, the moments of brilliance he offered were actually very good. If he can be more consistent then we need to keep him, and a loan to QPR might not be a bad idea. If he can tear that league up then it will only do wonders for his confidence.

I noticed that myself at the time. He started off well, playing some nice stuff, but completely disappeared for about half an hour, then looked class at the end.

That’s why he reminded me of Pacheco, clearly talented, but just doesn’t influence the game enough through large periods of inactivity.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Thought this one with him going to QPR was sorted, but apparently not. Redknapp apparently said this 2 days after all the reports about the loan being agreed

"I am interested in trying to loan Assaidi from Liverpool, but I'm not quite sure where we're at with that one at the moment,"

And now he's been linked with FC Twente today - http://www.insidefutbol.com/2013/08/...eats-up/95679/

Will be good to see him get PL game time.

Will be even more interesting next season if he has a great season. Rodgers maybe having to play him. Even though he quite clearly hates him. With a passion.
