I'm not sure I agree the midfield has been the weakest point. Simplistic it may be, but we've conceded too many and scored too few. Maybe the shortcomings in midfield are the reason for both but neither is their primary responsibility, unlike for other components of the team.
I'm not absolving the midfield of their share, but I just think the team as a whole has been misfiring for too much of the time. It might show up most obviously in midfield because the style of play puts a lot of stress on that part of the team but I'm not convinced fixing it is as straightforward as has been suggested. Given the style we're apparently aiming for, at least part of the solution has to be the whole team gelling, and playing as a single unit.
However we prioritise the blame for weaknesses to date, my point was that there's probably a rational explanation for Rodgers' unwillingness to play and perhaps get rid of someone who seems to be well done the pecking order.
