I'm not sure I agree the midfield has been the weakest point. Simplistic it may be, but we've conceded too many and scored too few. Maybe the shortcomings in midfield are the reason for both but neither is their primary responsibility, unlike for other components of the team.

I'm not absolving the midfield of their share, but I just think the team as a whole has been misfiring for too much of the time. It might show up most obviously in midfield because the style of play puts a lot of stress on that part of the team but I'm not convinced fixing it is as straightforward as has been suggested. Given the style we're apparently aiming for, at least part of the solution has to be the whole team gelling, and playing as a single unit.

However we prioritise the blame for weaknesses to date, my point was that there's probably a rational explanation for Rodgers' unwillingness to play and perhaps get rid of someone who seems to be well done the pecking order.

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I tend to think a big problem for the midfield is often only having one target in Suarez and us not scaring teams into leaving space. With any luck the purchase of some added attacking options will change that. I'm not sure that Rodgers team plan can really work without a front line that helps you to play in the areas you want to play in.

Indeed, but I was just explaining why people might think this way. Rightly or wrongly.
        Oh I don't know.

Someone on Twitter(don't know if reliable tbh I can't remember who said it) said he had another op after the Fulham game so could have been available if needed for that then has been recovering from the 2nd op since

I'm pretty sure Sahin has got an injury. Rodgers is a big fan and I don't see anything sinister in him not playing at the moment.

So there is something sinister in it after all.

You'll agree that if he's injured, it's less sinister than him being persona non grata at the club for footballing reasons. The former is temporary.

Your opinion on any football matter always represents overwhelming new data, where the inevitable conclusion is diametrically related to the apparent content of the data itself.

                      From Sky Sports Transfer Centre:
Following reports this morning that Liverpool are keen to send Nuri Sahin back to Real Madrid, the midfielder's former club Borussia Dortmund say they would gladly welcome him back.

I think Neil's boredom threshold has plumbed new depths.

I swear he said he was gonna do some work today.

...would be a shame to see him leave. Still think he's got quality and just hasn't had a decent run of games in his right position to show it...

Sahin and Lucas with Gerrard as the advanced midfielder would solve our problems and provide all the qualities we need in the middle of the park, without hindering how we want to play.

If Dortmund want him back (they play a very high tempo game full of closing down and quick bursts of attack), then isn't that an indication that Sahin can play that kind of game, like he did before moving to Madrid?
